Guild Leveling - Guild Perks List

Guild Talents were removed a while back and replaced with Guild Perks.

Reminder from the Cataclysm Press Tour
There are 25 guild levels and each level will automatically reward with an extra perk. The leveling process remains unchanged and your guild will gain experience through PvP, Dungeon and Raid progression, questing, etc ...

Guild currency has also been removed and rewards will just be "unlocked" after you reach a specific level or complete a guild achievement. Once a reward is unlocked, members will be able to purchase it with gold. Some of the rewards include guild tabards, mounts, heirlooms, and it looks like you will finally be able to have a guild tabard on your mount. (Just like the Argent Tournament banners)

New members of a guild won't be able to buy everything directly, they will have to contribute to the progression of the guild before they can access the top rewards. Each time a player helps towards the leveling he will gain reputation with the guild, the best rewards will require players to be exalted with their guild before they can buy it.

I can't help but think that this will make it harder on smaller guilds or new guilds. Who's going to join a guild that doesn't have all of the perks?

Not only that, but what is considered "advancing" the guild? What happens to those people (I'm one of them) who don't really care for dungeons or battlegrounds, and instead contirbute to the guild with information and keeping the guild bank stocked with gold and items? I help my guild in my way, through helping people in whatever way I can. I don't raid, don't do battlegrounds all that often.

Does this mean that my guild rep will be low and that I'll never be able to get the goods? This seems rather unfair to me, like it judges how people interact in a guild.

Of course, this could just be me feeling slighted. Does anyone else feel that way, or is it just me?

Nope, I feel that way too. My guild is very small, we don't raid, or pvp, we do the odd dungeon here and there. So it will probably taken forever to get to any point where we can unlock decent stuff.

This system reeks like its geared completely for the huge guilds of 100+. So unless things scale according to guild size, I don't see how any of the small guilds will get the benefits from this.

Has Blizzard responded to any such comments like these?

Doubtful.

I don't mean to dig up the past, but to me, this reeks of the Spirit Guide fiasco.

We were told that they were making this system fairer for everyone. How does making your guild into a faction that you have to raid to advance in fair? How is rating guilds in general fair?

I like the benefits, I really do. Some of them seem like they're trying to assuage us, with the increased exp/honour/rep gain. But it's doubtful that they'll listen to the complaints, or realize how insanely unfair this is.

I know I seem bitter. I acknowledge this. I've lost a lot of respect for Blizzard over the years though, and they've done very little to gain it back.

Maybe they'll start working for my (and I'm not sure about others, but I'm certain I'm not the only one who feels this way) respect again soon with Cataclysm, by reimplmenting some of the cooler things that have been taken out, like the spirit guide, the crocoslime, and hydralisk. I know that may be unfair of me to ask, but, with the spirit guide, at least, the process for getting one was grueling, time and money consuming, and required help from a buddy.

I'm not asking for them to spawn a hundred tamable spirit guides. I'm asking them to simply make it tameable again, with the eight second despawn timer and all that it originally came with.

Sorry, I got offtopic. Things like this just bring up the old animosities in me.

(And, ahead of time, please don't tell me that if I don't like it I should just quit. I still love the game, and always will, but that doesn't allow me to not be irritated with Blizzard and want them to listen to their customers a tad more often.)

The good thing is that we've seen them give up more of what we've wanted with Cataclysm, at least so far. Let's just hope they fix how you garner reputation with your guild. It's my opinion that it should have to do more with how long you've been with the guild and nothing else.

I don't know about this. I don't raid, I don't pvp, I don't 10 man, 25 man, or 40 man (if that even exists anymore) What am I going to contribute to the guild? My sparkling personality?

Exactly. There's no real way for the system to know exactly how you contribute to your guild, unless it's by form of raid/dungeon/whatever. And that's just not fair.

/end rant that has been repeatedly done BY ME

Sorry it just really irritates me.

Well...

If you're in a small guild with mainly social concerns (i.e. not raiding/pvping, just hanging out and having fun) then the 'rewards' will take longer to get, the same way it takes longer to improve your gear or anything else, but at the same time I think we'll miss them less. (example of what I mean: It takes a lot of PvP and arena to get PvP and arena gear, but if you don't PvP and arena you won't miss it.)

to be honest, I see this as an aditional optional element of wow. My alliance mains are in a big raiding guild which will doubtless level fast, and probably be one of the first 3-4 guilds on my realm to open all the perks. My horde characters (including my current main, a hunter) is very small (3-4 people online most nights), almost entirely based on being sociable and hasn't done a raid since I joined them (66 levels ago). I'm almost certain I will be playing the horde characters, even though the alliance ones would progress quicker, because the rewards for that progression are applicaple to that playstyle, and the play style I want is in the small guild.

YES it will inevitably take longer to get these perks, and YES, I'm sure some of them will just be out of my reach, and that's ok. I'll take the rewards that come from doing what I find fun, and I won't sweat the others.

Based on the ranks shown here:
http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/187 ... oss-Videos
(obvious subject-to-change-may-be-out-of-date caveat)
Everything I really want is at rank 7 or lower. Obviously some of the higher ones are really nice, and maybe could be the target of something you get the guild together to do, but the basic, useful ones seem to the easiest to get.

The previews I've read seem to suggest you can earn guild rep by raiding, pvping, instancing and questing. I'd have to say I think most of us do at least one of those things fairly regularly. If you don't do ANY of those things, then that's fine too, but it means you may have to go out of your way if you wish to have your guild contribution recognised in numbers instead of in coversation and fun. It's hardly excluding folks, it's just adding extra fun benefits for those who wish to pursue them.

It sounds like you'll get guild rep simply by questing as well as looting gold, at least once the Mr. Popularity perk is active. So meandering around doing quests builds rep.

I think my concern is some of the more material benefits. Things like increased experience gain, additional gathering mats and increased point gains. These perks will level and gear a large guild up even faster, while smaller guilds or even solo players get left in the dust.

Other perks that simply make the game more convenient sound like a nice idea though. Having a shorter hearthstone cooldown, instant guild mail and the like won't put groups ahead of others in such an immediate way.

You contribute to the guild by questing, pvping, raiding, dungeoning, playing the game. Unless you just sit around the city square doing nothing you should contribute. Guild progression is only based off the top 20 people contributing to the guild. Aslong as you have 20 member who are decently active you should progress with a decent pace.

I think (and correct me if I'm wrong) that the concerns voiced above were more that a player's access to these perks, even if the guild has unlocked them, depends on their "standing" within the guild, so though your guild may progress well, your personal play style may end up not letting you use those perks for a long while without doing things you don't enjoy.

I think we need more info on exactly what it takes to raise guild rep, really.

It sounds to me like your guild rep might be enhanced through raids and dungeons, but ALSO through leveling - mains, alts, what have you - and professions. I sincerely doubt they'd exclude a whole section of players. The only ones that will hurt in this are the people that are really limited on play-time...

Even at that, the perks aren't game-breaking. Sure, it'll suck not to have access to that fantastic mount many of my guildies have access to, but if I have to focus my attention on work or my family, the mount can wait. I'll get there eventually.

There was some talk in my guild yesterday of some people wanting to leave for a smaller guild in order to contribute more to the progression there. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, as everything seemed to indicate the encouragement of larger guilds, but the doubt was planted in my head that perhaps I misread/misunderstood something, so I'm keeping an open mind.

(My gut tells me that the guy talking about this wants to swap guilds anyway, so I shouldn't take what he said as truth, but things are murky enough that I'm waiting.)

I think this is geared towards guilds actually do things. Not to be mean or anything, but I think they want the guilds to achieve things and be active. My boyfriend once had a guild of 15 who would raid 10 mans every week :headbang: , so even really small guilds like that would get perks. Probably they will start with your guild doing all the new instances then to get more perks you will need to do raids, the new raiding system sounds like any 10 people can get gear (I'm hoping for uber boss mechanics) They just want the people in guilds that do things to have something to show for it (mount tabards, woot) even if there not sever 1st or are the top rated.

I don't even think raiding is necessary. I think it might help progress faster than doing nothing coordinated as a guild, but I get a strong sense that casual leveling guilds won't be missing out for long. I really wouldn't worry much about it, even if it's not balanced to begin with, Blizz will even out imbalances within the first few patches.
