Even though I've had this big guy for a long time now, he's in need of a new, better name. Currently he's named Odin, but it doesn't quite have the kind of strenght to it I would like.

About names in general, Nanyana's pets tend to have fairly short names that are easy and fast to pronounce. As an example she's had pets named Usva, Echo, Luna, Savu, Sumu.. Her names tend to describe her pets in some way - Usva, Savu and Sumu being foggy names for ghostly pets, Echo for Aotona, Luna for the white eagle. I'm also a big sucker for different mythologies (especially Scandinavian) and languages.

I'm hoping to find a fierce name for my dear companion in heroics and raids.

Well, how about, to stay in Norse mythology, Thor. Or, if you're fed up with gods, Thunder might be nice.
Then there is Mjolnir, Thors hammer.

Forseti or Glitnir: Justice
Hermod: War-spirit
Höder: Warrior
Od: Frenzy, madness
Tyr: Victory, heroic combat
Vale: Vengeance

These are all male names, I assume that's his gender. Can dig up some female names too.

EDIT: Tor is the god of thunder, Mjölner is his hammer. I guess there's some differences between names in Germany and Sweden. :P

I made a lot of suggestions for Autumnshots' green devilsaur, so I'll just post what I had there here. Hope you like them.

• Alekto - Greek for "Unceasing". One of the Furies. (Female)
• Atlas - Greek god who holds the world on his shoulders. Means "Endures, suffers". (Male)
• Astarte - Greek for "Star". Goddess of fertility and war. (Female)
• Baal - Hebrew for "Lord and possessor". (Male)
• Crius/Krios - Greek for "Master, ruler". Name of one of the titans. (Male)
• Deimos - Greek for "Fear and terror". (Male)
• Juno - Roman Latin for "Vital Force". Wife of Jupiter/Zeus. (Female)
• Megaera - Greek for "Grudge". One of the Furies. (Female)
• Nemesis - Greek for "Retribution; righteous anger". Goddess of vengeance. (Female)
• Phobos - Greek for "Fear". (Male)
• Taranis - Celtic thunder god. Means "Thunder". (Male)
• Tisiphone - Greek for "Murder-retribution". One of the Furies. (Female)
• Vasant - Hindi god of spring. Means "Spring". (Male)

If you want to stick with Nordic mythology, I'd go with Od or Tyr, two of Saturo's suggestions. They sound great and really fit a giant facemauler.

Hmm... Call me picky, but none of the names mentioned here or that I've found so far don't seem to click. :( Nothing has the kind of powerful feel to them.

Let's see... Scandinavian names... they all have some random meanings, but they do sound strong.

Axel/Aksel
Aleksander - "Defending men".
Alvar - "Elf army".
Andor - "Eagle"?
Ansgar/Ansger - "God spear"? "God's spear"? A name made form the combination of words meaning "god" and "spear".
Anton
Arne - "Eagle".
Asmund - A combination of the words "god" and "protector".
Bernhard - A form of Bernard, meaning "Hardy as a bear".
Bjarte - "Bright".
Dagr - "Day".
Geir - "Spear".
Hakon - "High son". Was the name of several kings.
Halstein - A combination of words meaning "rock" (Hallr) and "stone" (steinn).
Halvor - "Rock guardian".
Kaj
Leif - "Son, heir". Was also the name of a Norse explorer who came to NA.
Tallak - "Thor's play". Playing with weapons, that is.
Terje - "Thor's spear".
