Why don't they make Gnome hunters? Come cata all other classes can be hunters. Its not fair. I love the gnomes. They could just make all the pets act like Baby Spice was sprinkled on them or something.

I mean if a Gnome can tank Ragnaros or duel wield the Warglaives of Azzinoth (mispell) they should be able to tame pets.

It either comes down to race mechanics (Something about gnomes have max amount of classes possible. The limit is 8 or something, with trolls and dwarves being the only ones breaking that with locks.) or a gnome is more interested in machinery and engineering than they are about fighting side by side with a beast.

I don't play gnomes, though, so I'm pretty much guessing here.

That, or a devilsaur would eat a gnome. :D

Gnomes do have the least amount of classes to choose from. Maybe go at it with the concept of the mindcontrolling Gnomish engineered caps to help them tame Devilsaurs...

Okay, I see. So, tauren and gnomes have 5 classes to choose from, with everyone else at 6. Everyone but draenei (Maxed at 7) get a new class, some two.

Gnomes will get 6, everyone but dwarves and trolls 7. 7 is, normally, the max class cap. Hence why draenei don't get a new class. However, dwarves and trolls, as I said, do break this with 8. Then it boils down for gnomes that pallies or hunters just don't make sense for gnomes. Gnomes, if I remember right, don't really follow religion much, they're not into the Light, or Elune, or Mu'sha, or even P.Dawg. (Saturo doesn't count.)

So pallies don't make much sense. Priests slip by for one reason or another that I can't remember. Hunters don't work, because again, they could care less about fighting with a beast, instead they work with machinery. Hence why gnomes have mecha-striders. You ask, "Well, why not machine pets?" One. Unfair for everyone else, and two: That would take a lot of coding.

So....Gnomes are fine where they are, they're balance more or less on classes, and new classes for either of 'em just don't make sense. Same reasons for draenei. Lock or rogue don't make sense for them.

Tauren and night elves both seem rather rustic for gnome sensibilities — but they can make friends with anyone
Reasonably, that anyone could include beasts.

I can't really see gnomes as hunters, personally...maybe one or two, but not as a whole new class available for the race.

Then again, until a few months ago I couldn't see the reasoning behind a lot of the new race/class combos, so I guess THAT doesn't hold much water...

Yeah I think a hunter would make more sense than a priest for gnomes. Pally I guess could be argued that it would make as much sense as a priest, which I admit doesnt make much sense.

It would however make Saturo's handle be politically correct with the cute lil gnome and the big gun.

Yeah, I couldn't quite wrap my mind around troll druids, what with their cannibalistic side. And undead hunters, while cool, ehhh. I'd think live animals would balk at anything undead.

Undeads were once human, so maybe thats blizzards reasoning since Humans can be hunters now too.

It's my understanding that with the Scourge defeated the influence of the Lich King on the Forsaken is less now (not that he had a measure of control, but the source of their being undead is now removed) so they've regained a little bit of their living selves.

With regards to Gnome Priests, the Gnomes discovered a lot about their ancestry in Northrend and are now taking that knowledge and turning an insightful, soulful eye towards it, essentially developing something of a religion. Hence, Gnome Priests.

Also the fact that Sylvanas actually trained humans it seems to be rangers- we have a kick ass forsaken ranger/hunter in EPL, dude with the 'green' hyena's that may actually be white with plague after glow. Then the scarlet crusade who actually have human hunters.
Come cata all other classes can be hunters. Its not fair.
The game is unfortunately, not meant to be fair. There has been no lore at all for gnome hunters. No gnomes have ever been interested, in being a hunter afaik. Their 'ranger' class is more of warriors with guns, or at a stretch, possibly marks/SV, but not really enough to qualify as well giving them a hunter class.

They seem fine enough doing their own little thing, living in their own little world, killing crap and making shit and not giving a damn about anything.

Now, one could argue But goblins have hunters, Goblins were once enslaved by trolls- Trolls have hunters. Goblins, Horde goblins, also get ship wrecked on an island, so they have to make do any way they can to survive. So surely some of the less explosively intent goblins decided, hey, there's a dinosaur. Maybe I could train him to go and carry explosives to my enemies and blow them up. Or use him to black mail people, or something. Anything.

Sides, I've run into way to many asshole gnomes for the race to even deserve the hunter class imo.

There were evidently gnome priests already in Gnomer, so that kinda defeats that.

With that argument, I could say "But gnomes have been living with the dwarves for years, they ought to have learnt something by now.

Well, that's rude.

I meant it in the way that, the goblins were troll slaves. They then get stranded on an island. They're scrambling to survive, and some take notes from their enslavers, to help their survival.

Gnomes never had to go thru strife like that- they were taken in readily by the dwarves afaik, and never had to struggle to survive like the goblins do [even if half of it is the goblin's own fault].

Yeah you're telling me. Being insulted by people for not rolling a 2 foot tall lawn ornament is really rude.

No, because you condemn a whole race based on a few players. Want me to talk about my experience with people playing belves?

Taken from WoW Insider's Know Your Lore: "But with the revelations in Wrath, the gnomes have suddenly been confronted with their own origins and the realization that they were, indeed, created by a higher power."

Gnomes discovered in Northrend that they had been created by the Titans to be expendable technicians for the machinery used in the creation of the world. So basically, they learned that they were created to be disposable tools, and this of course is a bit distressing, but it is the truth of their origins. Knowing this, they of course need to take an introspective look at themselves and figure out "what it all means and where do we go from here knowing what we know now that we didn't know before", which is just the sort of thing that tends to breed religious tendencies.

Any Priests that may have been in Gnomeregan would not be privvy to this same information and one could wonder if those Priests were even holy at all or just charlatans.

I see no reason why Gnomes can't be hunters. It isn't size or the fact that they love technology, Goblins rule that out. (and honestly, I'd see Gnomes as better masters of their pets than Goblins. The unfortunate pet of a Goblin would be a test subject before being sold for a meager amount of gold.)

I could see a Gnome's pet being fitted with steampunk accessories.

And why not? Belf hunters are rogues with bows. Orc and troll hunters are beastmasters, think warriors with pets. No ranged weaponry there. The only real "hunters" are Dwarves, nelves and tauren. Making the gnomish ranged warriors into hunters wouldn't be a very long stretch in comparison with what we've already seen.

Besides, imagine how awesome a gnome would look next to a bear.
