heh nice!
My uncle had catnip in his garden once till he found out it was illegal to grow it and was the reason cats were beating up his dogs XD

Why was it illegal to grow? It's a member of the mint family isn't it?

Perhaps in some states? I know that here, you can buy it potted in pet stores, to grow your own at home (or leave on the floor for your cat to ravage in the first 3 minutes after you bring it into the house, as it were). Definitely not illegal in any place I've lived and had cats (which is to say, I know it's not illegal in Quebec, Denmark, and Sweden. Don't know about the US).

Ah, ya. It's so funny watching big cats rolling around in catnip.
I work at a small zoo as an animal keeper and we currently have eight big cats: five lions (two adults and three cubs), two tigers, and one lynx. Some of the cats do get catnip as a special enrichment item treat. Our male lion, Skins, ended up always eating the catnip which probably isn't too good for his health (he's an old lion and has a lot of health issues) so we stopped giving him catnip. Our female lion, Grace, gets catnip when she doesn't have cubs. Our two tigers don't seem interested in catnip at all. Lexi the lynx looooves catnip and will roll around in it for hours.

This is quite adorable.

Though nothing like my cat. Whenever we gave him catnip he'd turn into a rampaging psycho-cat. Like the one time we gave him some on Christmas and he hid behind the Christmas tree in the corner and hissed every time people went into our out of the room...O_o

Its illegal here cos
A)It spreds like wildfire here and is bad for our native plants
(seeing as we are a island our flora and forna are not used to ALOT of things us humans have introduced i;e deer,ferrets,stouts,weesels,possums,dogs,cats,pigs any mammal. hence why theres a hole part of the government just for killing those things lol and no don't feel bad for those animals there pests here and do more damage to our wildlife than the ways we kill them like one dog and kill up to 30 flightless birds every 2 weeks in the wild thats not good! ferrets eat kiwis and rats eat our birds eggs seeing as our birds have evolved with out mammel predators they don't know what to do when one comes

)
B) It birngs cats and well cats are not the best animal to have as a pet here if they get out n stuff
Yup i mean you wont go to jail but you will get a nasty fine and well its not really worth it IMO cats are fine with out catnip i mean it is a drug and all

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nepeta - All about catmint, its sometimes used an a mild sedative in people as well in many herbal medicines. And Vel your cat probably ate the catnip

If they eat too much which they really shouldnt it'll make them mildly aggressive sometimes hence the hissing.
