With the recent trend of trying out random pets, I've been doing something of the sorts myself. Mostly I've just been going on a crazy spree of taming and test driving beasts that I've either never had before or ones that I always wanted to try but didn't have a good reason to. It's really fun taking on the 'revolving stable door' approach, and it's been refreshing and satisfying to go around meeting all sorts of new pets. I've encountered a few that I think I may get back in Cataclysm because they clicked really well, but today I think I hit the 'jackpot' of sorts. A permanent companion for sure.

I had a chimera in the past for a brief amount of time but I never really clicked with it. The wings bothered me, and there was just no personality or bond. While going through Outland today I thought "Sure, why the heck not." and decided to see if Nuramoc was up. I've never actually tamed him before, and despite being a chimera I did really like his colours. Since I was on a taming spree anyways I figured it wouldn't hurt to just say I had him and that was that.

Well, as soon as I spotted him and completed the tame I knew there was something different. The bond was just instantaneous. I don't know if it's because he's an Outland model, if my tastes had broadened, the fact that he's one of my favourite colours, or perhaps a combination of all three, but I LOVED this Chimera!

It took me forever to think of his name. I wanted something that hinted of electricity like Voltage, due to his lightning breath, but also something alien sounding, possibly starting with an X because I like that style. Someone mentioned names like Neutron and Electron and I really liked the -tron suffix, so I combined all three: Xoltron.

Was this before or after Rak'Shiri, out of curiosity? XD

Looks very cool, though I think I prefer the non-outlands Chimaeras myself. The outland ones' heads creep me out for some reason...

It was after Rak'Shiri. I ran around for a while with the blue kitty, but in the end there was just no click there. Still, I never would have known if I hadn't tried.

Absolutely not XD I'm just glad he didn't go to waste, not too long after you left some DK's started running around doing the same quests I was on and I would've hated to find that corpse

I am one of the ones that actually really like the Outland model. I'm not a fan of Nuramoc's colors, myself, but the model is gorgeous. I just released Soriid this evening because I decided I don't really like the Cataclysm re-skinned version. So I'm trying to decide whether I want to do a "revolving-door" approach or just go get the Strider Clutchmother back. I'm leaning towards the Strider Clutchmother because when it comes to finding a "click" pet, I've already got mine. :3 /hugs Naphthali

Argh, I just got a wind serpent I like and now this thread made me want to do a tame spree. >C

I can't wait till we get the extra 20 slots in Cata, it'll be such a lift off trying to find time and space for all the pet skins I want.

The color of your pet suits your bloodelf so well! They go great together, grats.

Oh! Nurmaroc is nice! I love the color scheme. It's not quite right for Ky, but really a gorgeous pet.

Congrats! Nuramoc is definitely up there on my list of favorite pets. Took me more than a few tames to make her stick, but now we're damn near inseparable. She's also an amazing PvP partner, my two-headed flying purple people eater. :D

Congrats I don't have BM on me now, but when I which from MM to BM again I'm looking for him! He's one of my favorite pets, so glad you got him
