They should *really* make the purple spiders in that cave in Storm Peaks tameable as well.

I like the bright purple color, but sporebats are still my favorite pets, aesthetically speaking.
I used a black widow for a long time, just to be different, but I don't think I'd use that one.

So the color of the spider's exoskeleton changes his sexuality? Yeah, not even gonna touch that conversation line.

But besides that, it is nice to see this skin tamable.

Well to be more specific what was said was "gay pride" spider, not a gay spider. Just glancing through purple on wikipedia you can see it has a lot of meanings, and among them was:

Today the color purple is also known as a "pride" color among the gay and LGBT community.

I don't think it's offensive, it's just adopted as a statement or awareness if you wish to see it that way. Like pink for breast cancer awareness or red for aids awareness. That's what I'm used to seeing anyway, there are a lot of charity runs here as well as a lot of gay pride.

Also back on topic, I love this purple spider so thanks for the info.

Now its funny, when someone says its gay, for me that is fine as it's a clear English word (yes I know it has 2 meanings) But you see now homo, just does not sit as well. When you take the original word "Homosexual" and create a slang version of it, it often denotes a lazy or often distasteful version of the original, therefore leading one to believe that the inferior word also implys inferior context, as with allot of slang .

It's kind of like saying some one is an Abbo (/shudder) when in fact, they are an aboriginal. But then that is just my opinion. Just like my opinion is that it's not a purple spider, more of a Medium Violet Red

Lol, guys I'm just kidding, and not gay (Although I would rock Mila Jovovich's world. Damn, that girl be fine.). But even if there was a 'real' gay pride critter in the game, rainbows and triangles all about, I'd tap that. There needs to be some way to bring awareness to the fairly pervasive intolerance and misunderstanding of the LGBT community within the game. It's, frankly, disgusting.

If I had to be gay to take pride in taming that spider... I guess I would have to tame it because it looks awesome, IMO.

Hmm, I normally wouldn't touch something like this.....however.....

Homosexuality/bisexuality/etc. is againt my religion. I will not say what my religion is because I don't want this to go into that discussion but suffice to say I am not Christian. Let's leave it at that. I do not agree with that lifestyle, nor will I condone it. What my God thinks about me is far more important than what the rest of the world thinks about me. If I upset someone because I don't agree with their lifestyle, then I apologize.

However - at the same time, I will not go around telling everyone they're wrong, rioting against LGBT ceremonies or parades, or otherwise be a self-righteous jerk about it. Except for this thread, in which I feel the need to defend myself because you said that disliking that lifestyle is "disgusting", I would normally not state my view on it. At the same time, I have had several homosexual friends that I cared for deeply. One of them I even had a crush on (and I'll admit I was disappointed when he told me he was gay, hehe), but even knowing their sexual orientation, I did not judge or like them any less. I don't agree with their decision, and when they asked me what I felt I would tell them, but only if they asked. But we were good enough friends that we could see past our differences and still remain very close friends. I respect all people, even if I don't agree with their lifestyle choice. It is not my place in this world to judge or question what someone does in their life. The way I see it, as long as your actions in life do not cause bodily or emotional harm to others, then I'm fine with that. We are all responsible for our own happiness in life, and no one can tell you otherwise.

But like I said, I personally do not uplift or support that particular lifestyle choice. But I will not hate, disrespect, judge or otherwise treat anyone any differently if they do make that decision. It is purely a personal opinion for me, and I would appreciate if other people respect my opinion. It would be one thing if I was all RAWR about it and condemning everyone, but I don't. I keep my opinion to myself (except for this thread, like I said, where I kind of take it personally when my feelings are called "disgusting").

Hope that made sense. And I will apologize if I offended anyone, I certainly did not mean to. Whoever you are, I respect and care about you equally whether you are gay or straight or a eunuch or whatever.

Basically it's like.....I work with an Indian woman that hates tattoos, thinks they are horrible things. When I first started working there, she wouldn't talk to me and my friend said it's because I have a tattoo. I respect her opinion, but it's my life and I'll do what I want. I'm not causing her emotional or physical harm by having a tattoo. I wish she wouldn't have judged me based on that one fact, but I can't help that. She eventually ended up finding out I'm not some horrible person and actually talks to me now. But it's like...just because she doesn't like tattoos doesn't mean she's a bad person. Treating me differently because of it is what was wrong (in my mind).

Blargh, I think I'm rambling.

Edit: Back on topic, that spider skin is lovely and I'm glad it's finally tameable. But I still love the red one the best /hugs Naphthali

Edit: Actually, Rhyela, I think Dvatori was saying that "pervasive intolerance" is disgusting, which isn't far off from what you seemed to be saying yourself.
