Aw crap. :P I've been semi-camping him on Subira the last few days and just logged in and decided to fly a quick lap around the mountain.. Only to find him dead. Why oh WHY didn't I log in earlier!?

Tough luck. Ah well, now you know when he might respawn.

Found him on my paladin the other day, also dead, so I can understand your frustration.

I had an similar experiences

I usually go afk camping in SP. (if i am going to watch a movie or go drawing) it was near midnight and i decided to go a paf around north rend to see if any others are up (since there are some conspiracy's theories with rare spawns)
so i go Zuldrak, then Grizlyhills then move to howling fort. I find a rare in howling fort so I move back to Grizly an other rare is up
then move back to zuldrak and back to stormpeaks i start making my round and bam dead protodrake

i really could head desk meself why did i leave Storm peaks in the first place

Now i completely understand u'r frustration i logged him i see him. Not dead yay! but in combat annoying ally
