A dumb Q about gold buying

Why doesn't Blizz sell gold through the Blizzard store???? I'm not brave enough to look in the Blizzard store nor have I perused anything else but I was sitting thinking it would give Blizz yet another way to earn more money and may stop the scammer /bad gold sellers on the net that want to rape your account.
I'm not trying to ask a taboo question but I really curious to know.

If they ever do that, they are sure to lose a majority of their customers.

Just having the online store to begin with turns off some people. The thought that someone has an advantage in a game because they have money to throw at it makes the rest of us feel like the game wasn't made for us. If "(s)he who spends the most money, wins the game, and I don't want to spend any more money on the game, it wasn't made for me.

The only upside to the blizz store thus far that would ever give anyone an advantage is the Sparklepony. It saves a VERY minimal amount of guild considering it covers a ground and flyer for any of your alts. But that aside, i see nothing wrong with the store really. Just vanity items.

Thanks for the info etc. This has been my one dumb question of the day and clearly I should've just eaten some lunch before attempting to think.
I agree with what's said believe me.
Yes the Blizz store has some cute stuff and I did purchase the celestial steed simply to save mount costs down the line but oddly enough I got buyers remorse.
I can firmly see where the Blizz store would be a huge turn off to players if it went to a place where players would have huge advantages over others simply because they have the monies in their RL banks to buy their way through the game.

i love the blizz store, i know i saw alot of hate toward the mini pets and sparkle pony on my old server but i thought it was sad i mean if people want to buy em then let them. and when they donate some of the money to organizations i really see nuttin wrong with it... which reminds me... i want to buy either amini gryphon or windrider o.O!

I don't mind the store as long as it's just vanity stuff. Achievement hunters might buy from the store to up pet/mount counts, and the mount DOES give you a tiny advantage if you're not spending a couple hundred gold on mounts for all your alts, but that's really it.
If, however, gold was purchasable based on real life money...I agree, I'd probably stop playing. I'm already at enough of a disadvantage as it is gear wise just because I don't really raid or have tons upon tons of gold for all the gold sinks in the game. I don't need to be disadvantaged further 'cause I'm also a poor post-college student to boot.
Besides, pain as it is sometimes, I think it's a really good feeling when you EARN the money for whatever next goal you have yourself. Makes it that much more worthwhile, y'know?

Yup.
There are a couple of things to it, in my opinion. First of all, I'm majorly put off by the thought of people being able to
purchase an "edge" in the game. Secondly, one major pull in WoW is that there's always
that motivation to play; if you've got nothing else to play for, you can do dailies, play the AH, work your professions, or simply quest to build a gold reserve for the next gold dump (and another inch to the epeen

). If Blizz started selling gold, that motivation would be gone. Why on earth would people log in? I'm putting it in very black and white terms, but yeah...
One thing I like about WoW is that I can see myself introducing it to my kid when he's old enough because it teaches a lot of valuable lessons about effort and reward, social interaction, basic skills like reading and writing, and puzzle solving. Gold selling is a direct juxtaposition to all those values, in my opinion.

Because Blizzard is better then Farmville/Fishville/Villeville. lol
Though selling gold has and will never be an option to stop the hackers and goldsellers, I do wonder what, if any solutions blizzard has been thinking up to try and thwart these guys.
The in game whispers are a miner annoyance. The bots swooping in and mining a node right out form under my nose, time and time again makes me wanna scream, and the hacking of several friends accounts has make me load a shot gun.
I wonder if Blizzard could maybe make an easier way for these guys to get reported, and a faster in game response to these situations to stop guilty parties would help at all. As it is if I get whispers the only thing I can do is report spam, and if I see bot'ers and hacked accounts running around all I can do is put in a ticket that wont get answered til 24-48 hours later. by then being too late most of the time.

About buying gold, why would anyone do that? Even if Blizzard sold it or not. I find it rather stupid to buy gold and I don't think blizzard would dip that low even if their are people saying they get a cut from hackers and gold sellers, that is why they slack on banning them. But again personally a gaming company should only sell items, like their toys, mini pets and clothes things that are fun for the gamer's, but money for ingame gold I would rather go throw my money into the sea then do that (not like I would the sea needs more cleaning not more rubbish! But you know what I mean)
And as for the easy-safe-acccount I would advise getting a Battle.net Authenticator and using a seprate Email account for World of Warcraft and only for that nothing else not even for forums.

Authenticators are one thing. EVERYONE should have an authenticator, no matter what.
However I don't think that alone has been enough to stop the goldsellers, and in the end it's about protecting our in game economy.

Yes, sadly there is alot that can be done but then the scammers can work a new way around it
