just started scouting darkshore, and i checked every beast i encountered, among them the new to the zone stags.
and i noticed they have diet, so i thought about checking exisiting stags in ashanvale, but no they dont have diet.
so i cant help but wonder, are we getting stags?

One thing to note is that meat is listed on the diet for stags. For the moment, don't take it to seriously. Keep in mind though that they did mention that they might make stags tameable a while back.

This had me equally excited when I first heard that some stags had a diet, however it might just be a glitch.

Bears and Boars are currently the only two pet families that match the listed diet there (aka being able to eat everything). I'm pretty sure Bears are a prevalent mob in that area, so it's possible that these stags, being a new addition, were accidentally flagged as a Bear somehow.

Still, Blizzard did make that post on the official forums for input about new beasts we'd like to see as tameable. Stags have been a pretty popular request, so I'm still really hoping there will be a final big pet reveal with a few new creatures (stags and hydras please!).

I guess if it doesn't come out in cata it will come out in a patch? Hopefully. Stags would be an interesting pet, But I doupt they will be coming any time soon.

seriously stags are just... just listen to them... At least there are a lot to choose from. Maby they will include talbuks

Actually, oddly enough there are a few species of deer that are carnivorous and eat meat when it's available.

I'm with you Veph, I am eagerly awaiting the pet pass and have my fingers crossed for some new pet families!!! (Thunder Lizards, tyvm!)

Has anyone just gone out and tried to tame everything labeled "Beast"? I mean there are a few possible pets that are labeled "Not Tamable" but are, and some labeled "Tamable" but aren't. We need someone to go on a mass taming spree Let all the beasts of WoW feel the love

I've never run into a 'Not Tameable' beast that was actually tameable. There are far to many tameable beasts that aren't tameable tho.

I've always wanted a stag as a pet, the white ones are stunning ^^

It's because two types of stag NPC (both in Darkshore) have been erroneously classed as bears. If you do a cata.wowhead search for beasts in the bear family, you can see them there. Maybe it was a mistake on Blizzard's part, like the scorpid-hyena, the human-scorpid and the wolf-snake, but then maybe they were testing them out as potential pets without having to create a new family to do the test.

That is the first thing I will go out and tame if stags were given to us. I've wanted a Shadowhorn Stag since the first time I stepped into Ashenvale. <3 I'd name him Baphomet.

Female bloodelves and female gnomes ranked pretty high, followed by Hydras and Kodos/Thunderlizards.
