Murderous Blisterpaw

This is a rare spawn hyena who currently spawns outside Gadgetzan in Tanaris. However, from the pictures I've seen, most of his spawn area will be underwater come Cata. Has anyone seen him? I know he's a just a plain old hyena who doesn't have a fancy name, but he's special to me and I would like to know if he survives. Thanks. :)

That's an excellent point; didn't even think of that.

I've not seen him on my travels - but then I rarely (if ever) saw him on live :)

They will probably move him or use the skin somewhere else

The skin isn't a big deal; there are no shortages of brown hyenas. I'm just being sentimental about the particular beast in question.

Doesn't Murderous Blisterpaw have a unique skin? I believe the coat is slightly more vibrant than other hyenas with the orangish coat. Not that you'd notice unless they were standing side by side.

This is true, which I now know. :) I think it might depend on your settings, to be able to see it. He looks brighter to me, but not to some other people.

He's a different colour to the Blisterpaw Hyena, also found in Tanaris, but the shading is only subtly different. Compare the Blisterpaw Hyena skin (skin name: HyenaSkin) with the Murderous Blisterpaw skin (skin name: HyenaSkinOarnge [sic]). You have to flick between tabs a few times to really appreciate it. Makes you wonder why they went to all the trouble!

However that skin isn't unique. It's currently shared by Kolkar Packhounds in the Barrens, and Rabid & Starving Blisterpaws in Tanaris. A few new NPCs with this skin appear in the cata.wowhead database, such as Skarf. So at least it won't be lost if that one rare is gone (and he could well be, I'm sorry.. the list of rares at the top of this forum has no report of him).

However... the common old Blisterpaw Hyena in Tanaris is the only one to use "HyenaSkin". So if that NPC is gone in Cataclysm, the skin will be gone. I can't remember if they're still there or replaced by different hyenas. I'll have to go check.

Yep, Blisterpaw Hyenas still exist, so that skin is safe for now too (for people who care about subtle shading differences!) There's a pile of them up near Gargantapid the humanoid scorpid and stretching across the north of Tanaris to Gadgetzan..

And still no sign of your rare, sorry :(
