Mining monkey

I noticed something cool the other day, on my goblin hunter.
Someone had tamed one of the smart mining monkeys, and it still had a mining pick. :P
If they don't fix this, I'm definately gonna tame one of those. But you'd have to be level 10 before you enter the Town-in-a-box, because you're in another phase then. I tried going back to the mine, but there were no monkeys there, though they did show up on my tracking.

Lol, I would tame one of those if it still had the pick. I don't like them by themselves, but primate + pick = win. :D

Yeah, I thought exactly the same. Plus that sound they make is pretty annoying - but I could live with that, if they keep the mining pick. :D

This has been reported before, but screenshots are ALWAYS welcome.

Especially when monkeys are involved. :D

I think this is the first screenie I've seen of a tamed monkey-with-pickaxe; make sure Mania sees, IMO. :D

I did try doing this in the last beta build. Did all quests up to but not including launching the rocket to get to the other island - but the monkeys were already corpses (although visible on the mini-map).

I'm not sure then at which point exactly makes these monkeys untameable. Could be before you go on the ships in that area or at least before all your "shipwrecked Goblin buddies" line up at the rocket instead of at the shipwreck.

I think that guy tamed the monkey, when he had the quest that takes you into the mine.

Actually, I'm gonna make a new hunter now, and test it. :)

Edit: Since the login server is busy, I'll just wait patiently.

Okay, I managed to tame one of the monkeys now.

I was level 7 when I had done all the quests before the one where you go into the mine, so I had to grind to level 10. It took some time, but I had a little help from the heirlooms you can buy. :)

So if they let the monkeys keep the mining pick, I'm definately gonna tame one when the expansion goes live. :P
And it's not the easiest pet to get, because you can only get it when you haven't done the quest in the mine.
So for me, it was almost like first time I went out and searched for The Rake as a very new Smyelmdar. :D

Thanks Smyelmdar - will bear that in mind if I create a Gobbo hunter on live ;)

the mining pick should add ~3 dps

and i'll say this again, he should be able to pick nodes for you - and you wouldnt have to carry your mining pick in your bag since he's always holding it~!

Nice! Just a shame only a goblin can tame it.

lol, a monkey using a pick to fight. That's epic. Be even more epic if it can dual-wield picks.

I just wanted to say that my mining monkey is still with me, after the patch.
That's a good thing, cause if it had been wiped, I'd have to go and make a new goblin hunter, just to check it out again.

So I guess my mission in the beta is to check if the mining monkey stays tameable. :P

Hmm, I've heard that somewhere before..

Anyway, if they keep the mining monkeys as they are, the next thing to hope for is that they fix them. The face skin still looks like there's nobody home, and the sound they make sounds like a hyper ninja or something.

But still... The pickaxe is so epic that it makes up for the other things, if you ask me. :D
