Retired?

Morning everyone.
Long time viewer, first time poster [insert laughter here] and I must say I love this site. Always a big help.
With that out of the way I'll get to my reason for posting here. Cataclysm and retired pets. I'm trying to make a list of pets I need to get before Cataclysm is released and I'm having a difficult time because I don't know what pets will or won't be around after things go boom. I've looked around and I haven't seen a list anywhere, maybe because its still early-ish in the beta, and I was wondering if anyone knew or if the site would be updating that information BEFORE Cataclysm is released so we can go a hunting.

I don't think theres any pets being "retired", but there are some that are being relocated or some animals are going extinct (clutchmother) but her skin is going to appear on new mobs somewhere else.
I know someone will post with a link to that forum page with all the cata updates. Look for the stickies in the Cata thread too

I'd suggest getting king krush whiles its easy ^^
Edit: Okay its not easy, but its easier right now on live than it will be in cata...MUCH easier...

Don't forget Soriid + Haarka, can't tame them at all in cata, and with luck they'll turn into the cool new models!

So far the only skin that seems to truly be in danger is the Turquoise Scorpid that was from The Barrens.
It could very well show up somewhere, but right now it's nowhere to be found in Cataclysm so if you're fond of that skin then you might want to grab one just in case.

I did fly bys at all the likely places...He may be a rare spawn, and I may not have looked hard enough...But all the likely places I thought would fit had nothing.
No Silithius. (I was pretty confident on this one, too.)
No STV.
No Un'goro. (However, raptor dude IS still around.)

If you really need in-depth info, you can hit the
massive spreadsheet of doom and look for pets that haven't been seen yet in the beta.
Some are marked explicitly as retired, if it is very clear that they don't exist anymore, and some just haven't seen seen yet (that is, they have no build # listed). For the rares and spawned pets, though, that's no proof that they aren't still available - some of those suckers are hard to find!
So mostly what you can find there is specifics like 'the perfectly normal brown Giant Ashenvale bears are gone from Ashenvale'. Which is why you probably just want to go by the threads here.
(And also be aware that I am a bit behind on the past week of getting reported changes in there, but the other testers have been updating the spreadsheet as well so it shouldn't be too bad.)

Hmmm... I do not see King B on the spreadsheet of doom.

Weird .. He should be there. I'll check the sheet.
He's fine, though - I visited him just the other day.

He walks around the bottom of the hill now instead of on top.

That's good to know. He was the first pet I ever actively sought to tame when I was leveling and I've kept him ever since I got him. Other pets have come and gone but he's always been there and its been on my mind about if I'd lose him if I freed up stable slots to get some of the more rare pets before Cataclysm or if I'd just be able to go back out and tame him again once we got the expanded stables.

If the bug that turns Soriid and Harkaa into Colossuses stays in to Cata release, those scorpids wil turn into tan Silithid "ants", or the worker skin of Silithids.

Really? I didn't realize that there were the same creature ID.

I think he was just saying the blue scorpid's NPC ID would become inactive and the silithid worker model (with its own ID) would kind of serve the same general function as laborers, e.g. pre-tamed blue scorpids will remain as-is in cata (and aren't going to morph into the silithid worker model a la Grunter/Soriid/Haarka).
Would love to be wrong though - has anyone brought a blue scorpid from live to beta?

I don't remember a post, but it's worth checking out either way I think ... assuming I have enough character copies left right now.

The Silithid Swarmers do show up in WoWhead's Cata database with the same ID number, however the Silithid Creepers don't exist in Cataclysm so those ones at the least should be safe if the Swarmers do swap models.
