Yet Another Call Pet Oddity

I found another weird little problem with the call pet functionality...just wanted to give you guys a heads-up to be careful with your new tames. I was looking for a Tenacity pet, because my poor little Ferocity friends just can't hold aggro off me, due to their current lack of scaling. So I went to STV and snagged a Monkey. Before I tamed the monkey, I dismissed my cat, Daishar. Once tamed, the monkey's name did not display as "Monkey," it displayed as "Unknown." While spamming Mend Pet to bring its happiness up because I didn't realize monkeys had such picky diets, I named my new pet "Chistery." I then went to Orgrimmar to meet my guild master and help get our beta guild set up. When I dismounted in Razor Hill, out popped the new monkey...named "Monkey." I double-checked my call pet flyout and discovered to my horror that the game had assigned the name "Chistery" to my beloved kitty - who had already been named and therefore should not have been eligible for a rename. Quickly, I stuck everything else in the stable and swapped the monkey to one of the other 4 slots, with my cat in the active slot. I found a boar, dismounted, dismissed the cat, tamed the pig, and made sure to name it Daishar while its identity was still Unknown. I then mounted back up and returned to the stable. To my relief, the name "Daishar" had been given back to the last active animal I had before the tame, my cat, Daishar.
So until that little bug gets fixed, you might want to immediately dismiss a new pet once you tame it, then resummon it, so that whatever name you give it actually sticks to it and not one of your other long-term friends. What a fun "welcome to the beta" experience for me, huh?

Have you reported it btw? As it does seem an unintended bug about the new call/dismiss/tame a new pet feature out n about now currently in beta. And it'd be annoying if this went live.
Since the rename pet scroll is a 7 day cd per use not pet :(

Oh, I'm tossing a post up in the beta forums a bit later today...in point of fact, I'll probably copy and paste the post here.

Yeah I had noticed this - but I always try to dismiss after initial taming due to the pet being called "Unknown" but I have ran foul of not doing it and renaming an alternative pet
However with the issues of pet health at the moment - I'm sure it's all up in the air and spread out over a very wide developers desk!

Sadly, the stupid Beta report feature is broken...
And I saw this too. I picked up a croc and a fox. Named Croc Chameleon and Fox Starfall. Find that Starfall is now a croc and Fox is now named....Fox. Drats.

It's been renaming the pet that is in the top box in your stable pet. So no matter which pet you call or tame, if it's not in the top stable box the name will get moved to the top stable box pet. Frustrating, I reported it a long time ago, but I'm sure Blizz has had a lot more bugs to fix than this pet one. /points to all those poor people stuck in Moonglade (at least the scenery is nice). ^^

Then I'll report it again. Unless you want to see this bug go live, that is. It's a beta. To me, that means keep reminding them if you have to. And I don't consider my pets any less important than any other aspect of my class. I got hooked by the Moonglade problem myself...but fortunately it was on my death knight, who I'd barely started testing on. So I simply deleted him from the beta and recopied back over. Not perfect, definitely won't work for everyone...but it is a workaround. Serves me right for wanting to get in a little beta time before I left for work in this morning.

By all means Tahlian, the more posts about it the merrier.
