Silithid Ravager

I've noticed that the section concerning the status of pet skins has not yet been updated so I scoured the Thousand Needles all by my lonesome the other day. At the time I didn't have underwater breathing so I had to be quick yet I did have enough time to search the entire silithid nest on the now-flooded Shimmering Flats.

There is no more Silithid Ravager. The skin is still in Ahn'Qiraj if you'd like to get it after Cataclysm goes live but to be blunt the Silithid Ravager and the scorpids that once occupied the Shimmering Flats are no longer there.

On another note, I have something to bring to attention that I suspect many people already know. For those of you who don't have the beta Silithids now have a walking animation. They walk just like the battle tank silithid mounts do when you cause them to walk in their slower of the two gaits they can use. A silithid's rear will droop down when it walks, tiny wings held to its sides.

Well, at least the skin is ingame, if not the NPC itself. And yay for silithids getting their cute bug walk :D

Silithids have a walk on live too. :P

And we already knew that it was extinct, but thanks for checking anyway. At least they don't seem to intend to have any more underwater quests, which frankly, is a relief.

Also keep in mind they have yet to add beasts at all to Thousand Needles. They might add it on the top of the canyon somewhere for all we know ^^ there is hope!

Shame that it is truly gone, may still be hope that it's been moved, but least the skins not fully gone.

Nice to hear about the walking animation, that is one thing that annoyed me about the pet.

Now if only other pets had jumping animations.

There are going to be many "islands" in 1k needles. I'm sure there will be a few intersting creatures. I'm expecting:

Crabs (Tamable sorts)
Piranhas (Nontamable)
Basilisks (Both)
Snails (Nontamable)

Though, those are just my opinion. :p

Indeed, Silithids do have their own walk now but they've changed it to match the Silithid mount's walk. Honestly, I'm torn between the two even though I might be the person that spurred them into this when I whined about how the mounts were basically the same frame but the pets got half of the animations. I actually wanted more idle animations for them other than jumping to the side. Be careful what you wish for I guess but I'm happy to see their efforts.

On the topic of them adding more mobs to that area, I'm not entirely sure but something I noticed when I went down into the underwater caves is that there were new silithids growing in the water. I could see them twitching inside of their membranes. It might be that they have something planned for the silithid in a future expansion or later on in this one. The silithids enjoy being close in proximity to water and the Cataclysm does quite a bit for them in terms of moving the ocean closer to a few of their hives.

Did you notice if they have a jump animation yet?

I decided to go check this out for you although during my trip back to Gadgetzan from Uldum I remembered that they removed Eyes of the Beast from hunters and in turn replaced it with Move To. It's very possible they could have spliced the animations between the silithid mounts and the silithid pets but we'll likely never know unless there's a new ability which involves them leaping to their target.

I almost regret taking another look down at the bottom of what is now the Shimmering Deeps as I found they'd indeed added NPCs. They also added the bodies of all the scorpids, basilisks, turtles, and birds that drowned in the cataclysmic flood that followed Deathwing's emergence into the world. I'm not glued to my pets but I do like them and I certainly like my real-life pets, of which some are scorpions. A bit of a bummer to swim around down there...

...but oddly enough no matter where I looked there were no silithid bodies on that newly refilled new sea floor.

Well maybe the silithids hid in there tunnels?

Shinryu Masaki they might not be swiming ones and turtles don't have gills so they can drown.

I have no idea how the turtles drowned, although I think they were called tortoises and that variety of the family can't swim.

Someone mentioned that not all the mobs were put in and as I search the cliffs above the water line I find Twilight encampments with the new models of their most recent bases. It's possible our Silithid Ravager might appear up there away from the camp although another poster here brings up another good point. Silithids have an immense number of tunnels around the Southern areas of Kalimdor. The Silithids, having prior connections (perhaps current as well) to Old Gods could have known of the impending cataclysm coming to Azeroth and vacated the area except for their developing young that likely require water to begin with. The need for water in Silithids is quite evident in that they're living and the fact that they have pools of water around their hives in Silithus, at least in Hive'Regal that I can recall.

I added a screen of a rare which happens to be a white Silithid wasp in Feralas as well as a Silithid wasp boss mob model that shares the color that the drones use in Sholazar Basin.

I thought I'd add a picture of the new walking animation that Silithids have for kicks in case anyone would like to see it who hasn't seen it before.

Even though I already knew what you meant, it's awesome to really see it ingame! Thanks!

Another thing I've found interesting. A stealthing scorpid. I don't think it will retain the ability once tamed, similar to how stealthing silithids become normal silithids of that color once tamed.

Edit: As I predicted, it doesn't retain stealth once tamed but either way it's a new pet even though it's not a new skin.
