I was thinking of dropping my magehunter for a big blue wasp. I already have ironjaw and he's the pet I'm most attached to so I figured maybe I'd try something new. I know I'd be taking a hit to my dps,but they're also really big. So I was wondering if anyone who has a big blue wasp gets any trouble for it in 5 mans from other people or what your opinions are on the matter?

Mm, my old raiding guild used to be annoyed by my wasp, but in a friendly way. I don't think I'd want to bring him into a raid with a new guild, or with people I didn't know.

They are very large and in any sort of close-quarters encounter they fill up the screen. You could always ask I suppose, or bring him and if he proves to be too much of an annoyance Call Stabled Pet and swap him out. Then again if you're only talking about 5 mans I wouldn't be too concerned.

Well there are smaller Wasps, the only big one is the blue/purple-black one (and it's unfortunately the best looking Wasp model available to be tamed).

I do bring out my Wasp for 5 mans if there is no Druid in the party, since Sting does provide a useful debuff for the group (the Druid's Faerie Fire does the same thing). Still, if people really complain then you can swap it out, but do let them know it does serve a purpose.

And, is it just me or are Wasps suddenly becoming more common? I picked one up a couple of weeks ago and since then I'm seeing more and more of them on my server. It's weird.

I have the HUGE orange wasp, and no trouble so far, other than the occasional retadin, and a healing priest... Why he was click targetting I don't know...

I don't think anyone cares anymore in 5 mans. Even my tenacity warpstalker gets run about time in heroics.

I don't believe the question is in regards to efficiency or DPS of the pet, but rather the size of the pet. The Sapphire Hive Wasp does not shrink in size when tamed so it's quite large and has big wings, which people may find annoying. That's the question about whether it's rude or not.

DPS-wise it's more than acceptable for 5-mans, any pet is really, provided the player manages it correctly (ie turning off Growl, putting it on at least Defensive etc).

Thanks for your input everyone. I tamed one, but I couldn't take the noise So I went pet searching and I finally found a pet to fill that last stable slot! A two headed carrion bird. Its pretty and matches my guys outfit a little I even made it my sig I like it so much.

Aw, fun fun. Glad you found something. I am tempted to get a big blue wasp on some hunter alt...

I can't wait to try out a wasp, i can tame one of the Northrend ones in 3 levels :] Sadly i wish the hive queen was still tamable, as her color is vibrant and soooo beautiful!

Depends on what raid you are doing. I have VoA with my Sapphire Hive queen with no problems. The bobs in there are all huge and nobody has ever said anything. I would imagine something like Uluar, where all the bosses are not Giants, people may get a little upset. iw ould say use him for VoA, but nnot for much else. lol

Excuse my ignorance on the subject as Im a fairly new player but how do you "call a stabled pet" is it an ability you get or a scroll? How does this work?

Call Stabled Pet is an ability you get at level 80.

You can remotely access your stable and swap your pets with a cooldown of 5 minutes.

Ahh thanks Now I have one more thing to make me want to lvl faster lol. Im gettin there just hit lvl 45 last night

I know I can't wait either. It would make taming pets easier, too. How often have I gotten out to tame a pet, and then realized I have the wrong one out...

I dont consider anny Fero or cunning pet rude in heroics no matter what size, nor tenactiy pets as long you can still keep your dps at a ok lvl.
Some might find massive sized pets to get in the way but i still wouldnt say its rude by anny means.

Wait until you pop Beastial Wrath,then hoo boy!! Those Wasps get freeking HUGE!!! Much bigger than any other pet,even Devilsaurs seem tiny in comparison!

Then you'll have a screen full of "wtf?! I can't see the boss!"

When I played Hordeside, I had a friend whom has now quit that always did everything with his wasp. from dailies to 5-mans, to 10-mans and 25-mans.... Honestly..Nobody ever said anything to him... His DPS was still pretty decent considering the lack of a wolf's howl (-50 DPS..big deal) and the people whom played with him were more than competant enough to play it out...in his words though "I'd rather deal with some ignorant flaming, spastic wings and less DPS than be just another hunter with a white puppy."

(Seriously, though, I wish I didn't have to stick with him to stay competative.)

Flaming puppies -are- awesome...lol...but, I'm sure you can see the turn off when EVERY SINGLE HUNTER...has a wolf....
