Today, one of my dogs, Toby, goes in for surgery to remove at least one cancerous lump on his leg. A few months ago the vet confirmed it was cancer and that it was growing. Slowly at least and still in the first stages. We didn't put him in surgery right away because of his diabetes. The vet didn't want to risk putting him under if his blood sugar wasn't stable.

So after a couple of months getting his blood sugar all set up, we finally got him in for surgery. There was another lump on his chest that had gotten bigger over a year or so. The vet said if he does well with the first lump removed, he take off the other one regardless of it being cancerous or not.

He's an old boy, but still hanging in there. I only hope he'll do okay. =( I've had him for 12 years now. I know my cats won't give a damn when he's gone, but my other dog Emma is very attached to him.

Toby is now home and resting. The vet was very surprised he did so well so both lumps were removed. He's drinking at least, but he can't eat just yet. Still he's good. <3 A little groggy, but still cuddly as well.

Poor fella! I hope he comes through everything with minimal stress and heals quickly and easily.

I'm glad he's okay.

One of our dogs died of cancer. Our other dog became very, very depressed as a result. She passed away as well, a month ago. She was thirteen years old. We're not quite sure why she died. She was fine the day before. The next morning, we found her dead out by her favorite tree. It was obvious nothing had attacked her, she looked fine...
