Cataclysm Collector's Edition

Hi guys and gals I'm new to the posting on the forums but have been keeping up with stuff on here for a very long time. I felt like I should let as many people in on this as I can. My BF and I went to gamestop today and one of the employees was telling us that they have already sold out of the in store pre-orders for it even though there has not been issued a release date. When we got home we called around to the stores and they have all met the quota they were given and can't do anymore pre-orders. After that we call the 800 number and they told us that each store is only given a certain amount of pre-orders for the collector's edition. So just a heads up you may want to check the store near you to make sure you can still get it.

*nods* Sadly it's like that each time, gotta act quick.

I wasn't fast enough to grab either the BC or WotLK Collector's Editions, however I managed to get the Cataclysm one though this year, so I'm very happy I'll at least have one. ^^;

Hm. My husband walked into (or some other store like that) the morning of the launch of wotlk and picked up too. I never thought they were that hard to get...

Well thats the thing with Collector's Editions. Best way of getting one is pre ordering one the day the preorders start. i have preordered mine

I would worry about it and rush out to pre-order now, but I just can't justify to myself spending $80+ for it when I can get the regular edition for half that ><
I'm just a cheapskate lol
Though all the goodies in the CE are sooooooo tempting.
I wish I was rich lol

I ordered mine on Amazon. I always get my games and stuff usually from them and never had a problem. I rarely go to stores anymore for my game since they don't usually carry what I'm lookin for unless there's somethin preorder that I want...ie, Transformers: War for Cybertron I preordered at Bestbuy cause I wanted Jazz lol

Aye, I believe the UK stores are waiting for an official launch date before they stick the CE up. For now they all just have the basic Cataclysm.

Try going to best buy or Future shop. There much larger stores and should be able to order a much larger number of copies. At least I would assume so.

If you are in the states, I've heard that Target is a good place to look for it. I don't know about preorders but maybe on the day of launch.

Ok, I am a little bitter about this and I'll tell you all why.
My husband and I went to reserve my copy of Cataclysm at one of our local GameStops back in June or July. I asked the sales associate helping us as to how I might go about reserving a Collector's Edition of the game.
He informed me that although they weren't currently taking any preorders for the CE at that time, I could put a downpayment on a regular copy and would be contacted later and offered the opportunity to upgrade to a CE when they were able. I then asked how many CE's his store was expecting to receive and based on that number, what guarantee would I have that I'd be one of the lucky ones to get such an offer. He wasn't sure on the exact number of CE's his store would be getting but that he could add a note to my general information on record in the computer system so that the store managment would know I was interested in one.
About a week ago though, my husband made a quick stop into the store to put another $5 down on my game preorder. He asked, at my request, about upgrading to a CE and was told that preorders for the CE had already been taken and that they wouldn't be able to sell anymore copies unless someone should happen to cancel their order (not bloody likely, I think).
I never received that phone call. I was never offered the chance to upgrade like I was told. I feel completely jipped

<Sigh> oh well. At least I'll still get a regular copy of Cataclysm and get my 25 stable slots. I can be happy with that. I just don't like getting the run-a-round from people when I ask them for information.

Well best bet for getting a CE is off the net as a preorder. Most shops get a very limited number no matter how large they are and when it comes to something as big as wow the quicker you are the more likey you are to get it.

UK Cataclysm CE Preorder:
http://www.play.com/Games/PC/4-/1633708 ... oduct.html £59.99
The following are no longer taking pre-orders as of this writing:
Game listed it at £54.99 but the following day it was pushed up to £59.99 (if you ordered at the lower price, it'll stick) prior to being "sold out".
http://www.game.co.uk/Games/PC-Games-an ... /~r351414/ £59.99 + Loyalty Card benefits
http://www.gamestation.co.uk/Games/PC-G ... /~r422219/ £59.99
http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/pc/world-of- ... tpage.html £54.99
I assume it may appear on other sites (Amazon) at some point as well - although with the way the others have sold out, you'll need to be quick if it does! Not sure how long Play.com will accept pre-orders for.

Hmm, I ordered mine from Gamestop.com, as they ship the day before release so you get it in the mail a few days after. But it all depends on where you are. It has to go through Canadian Customs first, so I'm sure it'll be delayed. Though, since I'm in a city with barely enough people to call it such, I could check the store, too....

You know, I got the original collectors and have the original three pets and I figure that was worth it. I skipped TBC collectors and went for the Lich King Collectors for fun. I'm skipping Cataclysm collectors and I'll tell you why.
First of all, its 40 bucks extra and the most you get is *yet* another whelpling and more misc debris you'll look at and then probably discard. Granted, its a damn cool whelpling, but I already have like half a dozen of them.
Instead, I spent that 40 dollars on the Blizzcon package. Deathy > Deathwing whelpling + other goodies and streaming blizzcon.

It should still be available for those who missed out on the collector's edition and want a badass pet and worthwhile stuff.
Although, Jay Mohr is master of ceremonies again. I kinda hope he's sober this time and doesn't come on to the mistress of pain

Just out of curiosity what 'other goodies' are there besides the pet? I'd thought about buying the streaming event for the pet, but in the end decided I didn't wanna spend $40 on some pixels xP
I mean as far as watching the event, those who have streaming post up everything important already anyhow, so it's not like I'd miss any action, then the other perk was what, being able to buy blizzcon merchandise? whooo more money spending? xP
However if there was more freebies, I might be tempted....
lol
