Wow, I just did a petopian search with this level-restriction. I didn't realize how many pets are in this range!

That said, I'd say hyenas, or Humar the Pridelord. Humar because he is awesome and gorgeous, and the hyenas because they FEEL very Horde-ish.

My Blood elf has been using her dragonhawk since level 10. She's 24 now. I find they're like tougher fire mages, though Phoenix has his moments. Sometimes he does great, sometimes we have...trying moments.

If your looking for a good pet for soloing with the odd instance, cats and carrion birds perform well at those levels. Bonus: A carrion birds aoe debuff normally causes enough aggro to hold adds through a mend pet.

In case of "best pet" for leveling, I still say bear, as they swipe all mobs they are fighting with and thus can hold heal aggro when you try to keep your little bugger alive. I mostly go and get me that Level 11 polar bear from Dun Morogh, just because most people think that the white bears come around level 50 in winterspring and start wondering were you might have gotten one so early.

If you are asking for "best pet" in terms of looks, that would depend on the race you play and your personal taste. I really think that cats and hyenas go well with trolls, wolves and boars just fit nicely for an orcish hunter, blood elves may use cats or dragonhawks as fitting pets and tauren... Tauren... Well, Tauren are so big that a lowlevel pet always seems so incredibly small beside them. When you tame a bear, it looks like you throw a teddy at your enemies, not a ferocious beast! With tauren, I mostly pair wolves or tallstriders, even if I don't like the look of tallstriders. Tauren should have that 51 point BM talent as a racial trait and should have lowlevel rhinos, thunderlizards or something rather big in their starting area...

Either a bear, for the same reasons Kara mentions, or a Wind Serpent, since theyr family spell bypasses armor, and has a relatively low focus cost. They look cool too!

Because i collect rare beasts i would say Humar, Ghost Saber (Srsly, i rarely see Alliance players with these guy imagine what it's like on the Horde, seeing as it's on Alliance territory), Strider Clutchmother, Lupos (Either way, at this level range it's gunna be considered a rare wolf skin) and Mist Howler.

I did miss some rares out, that's mainly because they have the same skin as the same beasts around it example; Greater Tarantula and Chatter. These are only my suggestions because i collect rares...

While leveling, I actually went and got one of those lowbie Ravager's from the Draenei starting zone. (Husband acted as an escort, just in case ) They put out decent damage, and the stun from their family special suited me just fine. Plus, if you want to try out some early pvp, they do pretty well there, also.

Hmmm, i would say a ghost saber, not a big deal to get one, bear also would be fine. hyena can do high DPS so give them a chance too. Tallstriders i like less... maybe a wolf or worg a boar would go too.

Getting a pet from other faction area is such a thrill at this level and feels like a mark of honor. i would recommend that because it adds a little more fun to the game. I'm alliance & would sneak into horde area and take your cool pets

In any case though for horde I would choose armored boar from Barrens Razorfen Kraul or crab. Both will help you to level up very fast, good pets.

for PvP at 20s level ravager & hyena are very good.

I have a newbie Tauren Hunter alt. To keep in character, I went with a wolf. However, I think that a Raptor is a great lowbie pet for leveling.
