Rainbow Bridge

I know it's been a while since I've posted but the last 5 months have been hell for me and I've had very little access to the internet.

I just wanted to let you guys know that two of my girls passed on to the Rainbow Bridge within a little over a month of each other. Also to be honest. I had to post this somewhere where the people would understand and let me get this off my chest.

Rio, My Heinz 57, was 18 years old. She passed away at 7:00am on Sept 28, 2010. She has been by my side since I was 12 years old and she has left a void in my heart that I don't think will ever be filled. I miss you old girl!

Then, before we could even finish mourning Rio, Tao..our 14 year old Chow/Keeshond mix..who was nicknamed "The Hog" because she eat everything got sick. One night she only eat 1/2 her food. The next night she didn't even touch her food. We had a vet appointment set up for the following day but she passed away at 2:30am on Aug 11, 2010. My dad found her as he was getting ready for work :-(. She was such a little imp. So full of personality and very expressive with such a sweet temperment for a chow (even the vet who muzzled every chow that walked through the door absolutely loved her).

The house feels so empty without these two to fill the void. Even our remaining 3 dogs aren't the same right now.

Thanx for letting me get it off my chest.
Lee

Aeriika, I know there's nothing I can do for you, but I hope you find some consolation that this community is here for you should you need a shoulder, even a virtual one, to cry on.

Many hugs and good wishes towards you, I know how devastating that must be.

18 years is pretty good for a dog. Your lucky she lived that long. To be able to grow up and go through highschool and college with the same pet is something else. Sorry for your lose. Hopefully when your ready you will find another dog that you like.

Aww, I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of your pets. Twelve years is a long time but eighteen is incredible! That just means she was really happy and healthy, and I'm sure both of them had beautiful lives with you.

I wish you all the best through this difficult time, and we are always here if you ever need us.

Thank you guys for all of the condolences. That's what I have to keep reminding myself is that I was lucky to have those extra years with the girls. We never believed when we rescued Rio as a half-dead 5 week old pup from the local landfield that we would ever have her that long. And the fact that Tao was the only pup from her litter to live 14 years and not be put down for aggression..my family was truely blessed with both of them. It's just so hard. Even now I still expect to wake up and see them curled up in the floor by my bed or laying under the computer desk in my folks room. As hard as it was, we were expecting Rio to go any day but Tao...she was healthy and fine one day and then gone the morning we were taking her to the vet :-( The fact that she went down hill in 2 days left all of us numb.

I'm very sorry for your loss. They look to be wonderful companions. Hang in there and remember the good times. They were wonderfully happy to have lived so long with you and your family. Give lots of hugs to your remaining pets as well, they seem to be missing them just as much.

I'm so sorry to hear about you and your family's loss.

It's good to hear they lived long, happy, healthy lives and died peacefully with the ones that loved them. That's the way I would want to go. It's hard, but at least their time was fulfilling, good, and full of love.
