Who/what are your dogs named after?

My Toy Poodle Tazzy is named after Taz the Tasmanian Devil.

Dakota on the other hand is named after the lead singer of Papa Roach. Jacoby Dakota Shaddix.
I think he has grown into his name, if any of you like Papa Roach you would know how much energy Jacoby has on stage, and how loving he is with his fans, and his sense of humor.
While Dakota has never ending energy, he will work for hours. He loves his family and whenever someone is feeling down it ruins his whole day. He acts as though he is trying to make you laugh, whenever I have a stressed out day, or cry he will sit down and put a paw on my arm and just stare at me.

He is also a big puppy, and in great shape. ;)

Dakota's middle name "gates".

Dakota got his middle name from the lead guitarist of Avenged Sevenfold, Synyster Gates (Brian Haner Jr).

Synyster is a hilarious drunk(I'll have to add that video!) and is a very talented person, but he knows how to have a good time.
Although Dakota isn't an amazing guitarist  he is very talented at dog sports, and is a natural at dock diving, and one of the best in his club and he hasn't even started classes yet. When Dakota gets into one of his bored moods he will make high pitched noise and odd "talking" sounds, and is a total goof.

There's an anime called Detroit Metal City. It's absolutely hilarious if you're a metal fan, sort of similar to Metalocalypse. It's crude as hell but that's why I love it. xD

Anyways, the lead singer from the band is called Krauser, and my boyfriend and I just knew it would be a badass name for our dog.

And here's our boy, he's a Mastiff/Rottweiler/German Shepherd:

What handsome boys!

Our dog is named.... Tinkerbell. Yes, after the Disney fairy. You see, when we got her, I was about 10, and my sisters were around 7 and 5. Also my dad is the only guy in the household. If he had a different name in mind, he would've been sorely outvoted anyway.

My pekingese Truffles is named after the candy, i.e. a chocolate truffle. :P But then one of my friends said that I could also say she's named after the fungus of the same name, since she snorts all the time like a hog rooting for truffles. Either way, it fits. :D

She's got an...interesting...personality. She's incredibly goofy and her facial expressions just crack me up. <3 And yes, she does have some funky eyes. It's part of what I find so endearing about her.

My dog's name is Cinnamon. I didn't name her that and when I adopted her I intended to change it but never did! She and her four siblings were named after spices. There was Basil, Cheyenne, Sage, Cinnamon and Paprika.
Previous animals were named on personality or just something quarky. My old Dog was named Bogey because at the time I was learning to play golf a little bit.

This is Cinnamon.

UPDATED WITH PICS!

I have two saint bernards and 3 kitties(also a rescue bunny with no name atm)

My first saint is a female. Her full name is Kali Bear. I named her Kali because it meant Dark goddess. She is a sassy, opinionated girl, and is very good at getting her way. The bear part is cause she's a big, fluffy, bear of a dog.

Image

My second saint is 4 months old right now. His full name is Swisstar's Hogosha Kiyoshi. It means "Quiet Guardian" in Japanese. He well lives up to his name already. He is a quiet and watchful puppy and I never hear him bark unless I've asked him to bark for a treat, or he's playing with Kali. He has that guardian energy to him, always taking notice of his surroundings. He goes by Yoshi or just Yosh normally.

Image

My three kitties live mostly outdoors. We have a fenced in porch and sideyard, and we are well back away from the street. They never go far and are fixed. Two of them are a pair of sisters I adopted. The are moggies, and have siamese/burmese markings with white and both have clear blue eyes. The first has white on her forhead that masks the siamese marking there, so it looks like she just has a bandit mask of color over her eyes. Her name is Panda for that reason.
Image

The second has a white collar and her back is a soft cocoa-butter color that's a lot less mottled than panda's back. Her name is Snowbell.
Image

The last cat Kindof adopted us. She an old kitty and has been in the yard for a long time(before I even moved in with my husband's family). We estimate her to be at least 10-15, as she is grey in the muzzle. Her name is Pink-nose or Angel, depending on who your talking to. As her name suggests, she is a tabby cat, but has a splash of white over her muzzle, which caused her nose to be pink. She has olive green eyes. (couldn't snap a pic of her this morning, as she wasn't up near the porch)

My Husky bitch is named Tuvaq, which is Inuit for the ice that floats on the edge of the water.
Obviously, named because of the colour of her eyes.

She gonna eat my soul? D8

Anyways, I have two dogs. The first is a Border Collie mix named Toby... Err, my mom was talking about a kid named Toby the day we adopted him. The second is a Chow/Shepherd/Something mix named Emma. I THINK she was named after Emma Watson who played Hermione in the Harry Potter series. X)

Actually, our Husky named our 2nd cat....

Huskies don't really bark. They tend to "sing" (a bizarre howling sound while they sort of make weird mouth movements...). And one of the things she "says" sounds (to us) like the name Raul ('raooo-raoooo-raoooo).

We just thought it as too funny that she did this when she first met our tiny little black kitten, so, he was named Raul. (in french, it's pronounced "ra-ool", accent on 2nd syllable).

Our other cat, who's a pure-bred Blue-point Rag-doll kitty, is named Stewie, for our favorite charater on Family Guy... although the temperament REALLY does not match. Our Stewie is so docile and affectionate and quiet... we often think of him as a "living pillow".

The really funny thing is, the two cats are actually becoming VERY similar in temperament... the new kitten (he's a year old now) was abandoned, and we found him starving, flea-infested, anemic, and very ill, behind our tool shed. He was around 6 weeks old, but only weighed a few ounces. We were worried that since he had been abandoned, and then had to spend a month in quarantine, that he might not be well-socialized.

Well! let me tell you!
He is just about the most affectionate cat I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
He makes our dog look like an independent, indifferent, antisocial snob!
This is him immediately after coming back from his first week at the veterinary hospital:
Image
By the way, he STILL does that adorable "sticking out the tongue" he's doing in this picture, especially immediately after he wakes up from a nap.

So we have the Rag-doll, a breed renowned for being affectionate and "dog-like"; we have the new kitty, a pure-bred alley cat who follows me around like a dog; and we have the dog.. who acts more like a cat than anything else!

Awwz! Cute chocolate kitty! I don't see them very often, but I love that color on cats.
