After seeing this, I was starting to drool thinking it would be so awesome if Blizzard is willing to update tamable lion mobs with the new alliance guild mount model.
Imagine Humar with yellow eyes and black fur with that model, how about Echeyakee with green eyes and white fur?

Hell I think even old cat model deserves remodeling, it's probably one of models with lowest polygon count that is still being used ingame.

...eh...they should revamp all the cats, but i wouldnt tame this thing.

I do! Actually ever since Catacrlysm was announced, I've been hoping for update on lion and hyena models, since they do look pretty outdated right now. That's the major reason I nowdays barely ever use my golden lion I've had since level 10. I don't demand this model in particular, but they do need an update of some sort.
And I do agree with Redith - all cats need it...

Third'd. I've been wanting to use a cat in ages, but in almost every model I've noticed some kind of mishap/glitch with either the skin pattern or the model. For example, on the legs of some tigers the stripes don't line up, a little section of the lion's mane disappears while running... little picky details that I can't help but notice after I first see them.

I think most vanilla mobs need an update. Not necessarily new models, just more polygons. It's so sad to log onto my human rogue after playing my draenei... imagine what it'll be after playing a worgen or goblin!

And I must admit that while I love the cats in WoW, I hate the stupid square neck. It's one reason I rarely keep a cat pet for long. Cats and hyenas are definitely in dire need of an upgrade.

Well, I attempted to recolor the alliance Lion to see what it'd look like as Humar... and... the result was meh at best. Recolored the armor too to match Humar's green eyes. So, <_<; yeah.

No idea how to actually link the picture in my post (without uploading to Photobucket/tinypic/or any other type of photomanaging website, since I can't be arsed to do it right now for something this simple)... sooo, yeah. Click below to check it out.

You say "meh" but I really like that!

I'd love to see all the old animals get upgrades. The poor blocky things need some love. I cannot imagine how my ghostsaber, for example, much as I love her, would look next to a goblin, worgen or one of the new animals. Or how she (and my hunter for that matter!) will look in the new zones. Terrible, really. It's going to look like two different games smashed together.
That is one aspect of Cata I'm definitely not looking forward to.

White one is my favourite.

I'd love an update on the lion "model" for "cats" too! I'm a cat person.

I think the super fluffy mane is kinda silly looking.
I like the armor on it though

The true answer to this is....add more lions with the new model and leave the old ones alone. Everyone wins!

A bit, yes.

I mean, I could see how a hunter could read in whatever vibe they wanted, but it doesn't really exist the way it does with the current lions.

They're big and floofy and gorgeous....but a bit empty. Jambalaya wouldn't be Jambalaya if he looked like that. Neither would Scratchfever, for that matter, if that puts things more in perspective.

Good way to put it. A bit like, dare I say, the spirit beasts can be. I was blown away by the prettiness, but, after looking at them more, I really don't know how much I really do like them.
I still think it would be nice if they smoothed out the old beasts a bit, but, I don't know if they'll draw the line before we end up with shiny, empty pets.
