Funny How it Happened

Got my little troll hunter up to 17, and decided I wanted to try and tame Snort. I stable my raptor and run up to Snort's patrol area, on the way grabbing a Hecklefang Hyena to keep me company while looking for Snort.

Not sure how long I spent running around Snort's spawn area, killing and skinning everything that wasn't Snort, but eventually I had to run back to Xroads to empty my bags. While making the trip back to look for Snort, it hits me; I like the little brown hyena. After a little consideration I decided to keep the little brown hyena that I intended to be a temporary pet.

Anybody else ever end up with a pet they weren't looking to tame? :)

I still have a bat named ImTemporary on Toshi. Got him at level 12 when I ran down to get Bjarn, abandoned him, tamed Bjarn, and then retamed him first thing after hearthing back to UC. I really took a liking to him when he charged off to save me from a plaguelands bear.

I always tame something I really don't like when I'm off to tame something special, so I won't regret to leave him behind.

But then, I mostly go with the ordinary skins, I'm no fan of rare pets.

Never done that before.. but I do remember the trouble I went through to tame a Red crab waaay back in the day. The only crab I could find was the silithid defenders in Barrens, which only spawn when a horde does a specificy quest (I was ally on a pvp server..). That was a pain...

Dropped the wolf I had in a second.

I know I've often considered it while going from one place to another. But as soon as I see the pet I was originally interested in taming, I can drop the temp pet easily.

More often than not, it's my FRIENDS who encourage me not to dump the temp pet. Hehe.

hehe

I had that happen with the first pet I had. At level 10 I had tamed a blue crab in Darkshore as a pet until I could tame a Ghost Saber. Got a friend to help me find the cat statues, and she was all upset when I abandoned iPinch for the ghost kitty.

Same here. I rolled a baby BE hunter once and wanted a moth from Bloodmyst. My DK friend agreed to help me get there and I grabbed a red raptor from Durotar as a temporary pet just in case.

When I dumped the raptor for the moth after we finally found one, he was very, very upset. XD

Now that I can relate to! For a while I had a purple tallstrider, named to mock one of my former GMs ( I had made the guild I was currently in because HE had disbanded our guild, rather than passing the torch, so I reformed as best I could). It was named JadbinJr =D. I was sad when I abandoned him >_>

Now I have another one named Chocoblaq though.

A long time ago, on my first hunter in WoW, I tamed a Stranglethorn Tiger so I could learn/gain the Dash skill for my barking wolf, Faithful. As I put the tiger through its paces, the words of William Blake's poem The Tiger entered my mind. That was when I named that tiger Symmetry and with her naming, Symmetry became part of the family.

Can't say I've ever tamed a temporary pet that really stuck... at least, nothing comes to mind, hehe. I have had moments when I see a pet and just spontaneously abandon my current one to tame it (like the white serpents in WC... heh).
