Parrots

Unread post by Kayb »

Does anyone else dislike the idea that parrots are labelled birds of prey? Don't most parrots prefer fruit and seed.

I'd rather them split off into their own family, then later they could add other types of parrots to the mix, like Toucans :D

So say they become the Parrot Family, what sort of talents could you see them using? Perhaps some sort of sonic boom/silencing ability. The parrot suddenly squawks loudly, silencing enemies and making their ears bleed for a few seconds

Ah, that's a really good point you're making there! I would absolutely love seeing Parrots made into their own separate family.

As for the family skill... "The Parrot sings, inspiring all nearby party and raid members to deal 1% more damage for 10 seconds." *grin* Or maybe they could imitate a coaching speech of Varian/Garrosh.

Song of Battle: The Parrot sings, inspiring all nearby party and raid members to deal 1% more damage for 10 seconds. 50 focus, 1 minute cooldown
Imitate Leader: The Parrot imitates a speech it once heard, inspiring all nearby party and raid members to deal 1% more damage for 10 seconds. 50 focus, 1 minute cooldown

Seeing as Parrots probably wouldn't be exotic, I find their family skill shouldn't be on par with the Core Hounds and such - thus the short duration and long cooldown.

I agree, with that idea. It makes sense, and I like the idea of a squawking ability for them.

Thought of a fun ability like the "play" one for foxs, where the parrot will copy and say the words (when you click on it) of the last npc you talked to for a ? amount of time. idk just thought of it. :D

Hmmm from what I know of when I take my parrot into pvp, people really like to try and have a good go at her. I think it's the flappy in your face thing, but the main reason is the random squaking she does as she tries to peck their face off

As for the family skill, maybe...

Fluster: The Parrot loudly flaps and squarks in the mobs face causing a chance to miss with attacks by 20% for 5 secs. 40 sec cooldown.

or

Chatterbox: The parrots constantly squarks, causing it's attacks have a 20% chance to interupt spell casting for the next 6 secs. 1 Min cooldown

I know the skills are kind of unique, and Bliz is trying to steer away from that, but they don't cause any damage :D

That sounds good too, though you could add that they scratch at the target's face with their claws while doing it

Maybe duplicate the effect of the tallstrider debuff.

It would be nice if the parrots specifically got moved into their own group of birds, but didn't we see the Birds of Prey family come into existence in LK, with the addition of eagles and such? I don't hold out a lot of hope for this, but it does seem right for the parrots; they're just so different.

The thing is, none of the pet special abilities are supposed to do damage in addition to the effect. It's part of Blizz's attempt to get all pets into dealing the same damage.

Ah yes, true that.

Everyone in the Beta should point Blizz to this thread :P or at least petition for a Parrot family

And on this note, I would also like Seagulls to be listed as Carrion Birds.

I don't see why people like birds, they scare the hell out of me :S

Also for a parrot family they should make the bird enrage when fed a cracker.
