Winterspring owls

I don't know if anyone else has brought this up, but I noticed that the owls of Winterspring changed into brown/grey ones now.
I've searched and searched, but no white owls there as far as I can see..
So that means that my white owl I have had for a very long time, is gonna turn into a brown/grey one..

Oh, say it ain't so! Is Olm the Wise at least still around, and white?

I don't know. I haven't tamed him, so I can't tell.
I'll go look for him now, and see if he's still white (if he's there).
I had tamed one of the white owls from Winterspring earlier in the beta, and it has turned into one of the new ones now:
Edit:
I wasn't able to find Olm anywhere, but I'm sure someone here mentioned taming him on the beta earlier. Otherwise we need to find someone who has transferred him over.
On a side note, I also noticed that some of the bears in Winterspring has turned into brown ones. But it's only some of them. Some are still polar bears.
And as for the owls, it seems like the screechers are gone from Winterspring. And the Winterspring owls are the ones that has changed.
I don't know how you guys feel about this, but to me it really sucks, if the owls change into the new ones.
In fact, any beast that changes into something else. I'd hate to have my red hyena turn into a mastiff, since I have had it since god knows when.. And it's like that for most my pets. I know people get attached to them - well at least some people do. I'm one of them.

changing the white owls that live in a snowy environment to grey seems a bizarre and pointless thing to do. It's not as if Teldrasil and Felwood (and Outlands) don't have enough grey ones. One wonders what the thinking was behind it.

Part of the charm of that zone was all the white wildlife, backed by the pure white of the snow. To me, aesthetically pleasing.

I'm sure they've implemented the white owl somewhere.

Well they're not removing white owls altogether, they've clearly shown they're not removing any skins. I wonder, though, if this is a mistake, a coding error...
I hope they change the mob id if they do intend the change... It'd really suck to log in to find your loyal pet changed.

What about the white owls in AV? are they still white, or have they been changed to?

I guess the ones in Alterac Valley are still white. Haven't been there on the beta, so I don't really know..
But as mentioned above, the beasts of Winterspring shouldn't change. The whole theme there is of winter, frost and snow and so on.
The cats hasn't changed though. Still the same frostsabers and so on.
And besides that, I found some interseting beasts, but they were untameable.
I'm not sure if the last one is there on live servers too, but wouldn't that be an awesome pet?

Maybe hopefully, if this change were to be permanent with the white owls, then maybe we will find them in other snowy places and there are plenty of snowy places to find one. I am happy I got my she-Olm when I did; they are just so gorgeous.

I'm also sure they will put them into the game elsewhere, but I'm more concerned what will happen to already tamed Winterspring owls.
Not that it's impossible to re-tame them, but it wouldn't be the same...
But I also think it's a shame that some rare skins are being made common. For instance Araga. I remember camping for a long time when I got her. And I remember all the exitement and the comments I got when I finally had her.
Now Araga's skin will be everywhere.
But then again, same thing happned when they made pet talents and so on. The once awesome Broken Tooth turned into a plain linoness, as well as a lot of other pets turning into plain ones.
And we learned to live with that, so I guess we will live with whatever changes comes.

Sorry to derail the thread, but I remember a post about the white worms (
http://www.wow-petopia.com/look/wormskinwhite.html). Has this skin been found now that they are no longer available from Shrunken Temple?
---
Nevermind...
http://cata.wowhead.com/npc=14370 - apparently tameable.

I really wouldn't worry about Araga's skin being everywhere. One of the reasons some hunters had her was because she was super-rare. the skin being more available is going to turn off a lot of hunters who wanted her just for that.

There are, at least at last check, white owls in Hyjal. *off to check...* Yes! At the shrine of Aviana. Hyjal Owls, they're called. They're not the easiest thing in the world to tame, since most of them are flying in circles around her shrine at inconvenient levels off the ground, but with a flying mount and a bit of patience to figure out the position you need to be at to get them into range, there are still white owls available.
Of course, there is this little thing about them...
About half the time when I come to a stop with her, she pauses in her flying a bit behind me, then teleports to be on top of me, as shown here. I admit I've never had an owl for long periods of time, but is it normal behavior to do that...? Most pets like being at your side, are owls more clingy?

It's kinda cute. Like she's giving you a hug with her tail feathers.

This explains it!
Gumbo was a white owl in a past life.

Perhaps she wants to land on your shoulders

that would look cute too.

Thanks for the information Silverstenopad. It's nice to know that the skin ain't completely gone. But I didn't expect it to be.
I'm just more concerned about the Winterspring owls we have in our stables, will turn into the new ones.
Let's hope it's just a coding issue, and that they will fix it.
