Just some idle speculation to pass the time....

In my wanders on the beta today I noticed that several hydra varieties that have always been classed as "uncategorized" (i.e. not beasts) are now classified as beasts in the latest build. It must have been recent as cata.wowhead still lists them as uncategorized too.

These include Thessala Hydra in Maraudon, Strashaz Hydra in Dustwallow Marsh and Mystlash Hydra in Ashenvale.

Perhaps it's part of a general cleanup of uncatagorized NPCs, but perhaps something is about to happen?

Aku'mai (boss in BFD) and Gesharahan (rare in Barrens) are still not beasts. I couldn't find Trigore the Lasher (rare in caverns just outside WC) at the time, and haven't checked Gahz'rilla or Gahz'ranka (optional bosses in ZF and ZG respectively). I'm not sure if Hetaera in Azshara even exists anymore, but I wouldn't be surprised if she was removed.

Hydras and Stags are the two creatures that I would die to see tameable. :3

*glee* At least the ones in SB were already beasts, right?

Edit. If they do switch em to tamable I hope the barrens rare will be added to the list.. I think thats probably the hydra i'd go after.

A hydra is one of the pets I wish I had grabbed. I didn't know it was tameable until like...2 days before they removed it and I didn't have the rep yet to do the dailies.

What about Ghaz'an? I can't remember if he was a Beast or not and my subscription ran out so I can't check

Agh, I hear you. I was trying to level like MAD in order to tame the Hydra, but I was just shy of making it on time before they were nerfed. Bah, same with Gezz, story of my life. x)

Same. I loved Gezz, but I wasn't quite that far in Skyguard rep to do her! It was so upsetting, I'm actually only just now working on my rep with them again.

I never had an interest in the ghost hydra myself, but this I would go for. Trying not to get my hopes up, though.... Any word on the orange ones formerly in Azshara?

It wasn't my favorite color, but I loved the idea of a hydra pet.

he is not but i have noticed on the PTR any way the new familys like beetles havent been changed so even if they do change them to beasts i dont think we will see the family untill cata hits when ZG is removed. But i will be logged out in ZG on day of Cata launch!

Oh that would be wonderful. I wonder if the Spirit of Atha would be converted? *speculates about possible family skills*

I managed to snag an Atha - I spammed trade and SB general until I found someone with the daily that would let me tame it. But in general, I'd love to see them tameable, they're just so popular.
