I am getting sick of them really. most are really bad the only one I have seen in ages that was good and used 3D well was Piranha 3D lol loved that movie was my kind of thing but to every movie like that theres a allice in wonderland or a resident evil 4 i am sick of it. It hurts my eyes and well for a long movie gives me migranes( i am talking to you avatar). They are worse if they are not shot in 3d and have it put on later so the things all blurry. Just i want them to stop and well make a good movie heavens knows we need some more. I know i don't have to see it in 3D and well i don't but still.

:S sorry for this not being a huge thing with lots of reasons i just needed to say what i think about it.

Overall, yes. I feel a lot of movies are needlessly being made into 3D if only to cash in on the fad. While I can understand some movies would be obvious picks to make the transition into 3D, such as Avatar and Toy Story 3 (which I was rather sad I missed since I heard it was actually good in that medium), all the other movies seem to rely heavily on gimmicks in an effort to "immerse" you.

However, my disenchantment with cinema does not end with the assault of 3D movies... Frankly, I'm rather done with much of Hollywood (I use that as a blanket term for all mainstream cinema) since they seem much more content to scrape the bottom of the barrel for content; like unneeded sequels or remakes of classic movies and/or TV shows.

Like...did we really need Shrek 4 (or 3...or two, I suppose)? Did we really need another Terminator movie after the third one? How about the recent Indiana Jones movie that basically, in my mind, disemboweled the franchise?

What next? Are they going to try to appeal to the 80's kids more and reboot/remake more movies from then? A new Labyrinth? A hip and trendy version of Goonies?

I just wish Hollywood, and nearly all other forms of mainstream media, would stop doing things that are "safe" and actually let people be creative again. I have been disappointed so much with film in the past few years that I find it rare to ever want to spend ten dollars to see a new release.

Heck... I can't usually warrant going to the dollar theater now because most of the movies just seem overwhelmingly "meh" to me.

Totally agree with you there. I'm getting very tired of all the remakes. Or, the other resort that the film franchise has turned to: adapting books and comic books.

Granted, there are probably a lot of books or comics out there that really deserve the adaptions, but they're all done so BADLY these days. They never stay accurate to the books or the comics. I wouldn't expect 100% accuracy, of course, since it's a different type of medium and some things need to be changed, but it's no excuse for changing whole characters or vital plot points. But it sells, sadly.

As for the 3D thing....it is a gimmick and a fad. I am very annoyed with it, because it is basically what people are using to sell their movies these days. That ISN'T what they should be doing! They need to make a solid movie first, with a good plot, strong characters, and decent overall story. Once this has been worked out, and the movie itself is gold, THEN you can go back and say, "HEY....maybe we can add 3D to a few scenes." 3D should enhance, not carry the story. You have to bake a cake before you decorate it too, or the whole thing turns to mush.

Unfortunately it all sells. It ALL sells. And that's why they keep doing it.

Most definitely. The only movies that I want to see in 3D are maybe the Pixar ones, and Avatar as an exception. Those ones suit it, but for the most part live action movies are just slapping the 3D on as an afterthought leaving the movie looking horribly diluted and dark. It's just a bandwagon everyone's hopping on, but if I had the choice I'd rather not deal with wearing awkward 3D glasses and squinting at the film.

I'm not huge fan of 3-D, so yeah. :D

And has anyone else noticed that in scary movies, the lighting is way too low? I mean, I know it's supposed to be low, but this is too too low. I saw a kitchen scene in one where this family was eating breakfast (nothing scary happening yet) and they had like 1 25watt bulb burning.

Could it just be my tv?

I didn't waste my money seeing Piranha whether it was in 3D or otherwise. Movies are really expensive and I'd rather spend my $30 (for two tickets) on something else then seeing a movie that for all intents and purposes looks like it sucks.

I saw Avatar 3 times in the theater twice of those in 3D. Clash of the Titans and Alice in Wonderland I also saw in the theater in 3D. I have found that where you sit dramatically effects the view of a Real 3D movie. All three of these were amazing in 3D ................... as long as you were in the perfect spot.

I'm not sick of 3D just not willing to pay the extra money unless I'm sure the film will be worth it and I get there early enough to sit in the sweet spot.

Hmm...the last movie I saw at the theater was Alice in Wonderland 3D. Overall I enjoyed it, and the 3D did nothing to take away from it. I to am getting tired of everything being in 3D nowadays, but that's not the reason why I rarely watch new movies. They just don't look interesting anymore. They're running out of ideas, rehashing old stuff, and over-hyping out the wazoo. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they make a 4th Pirates movie or a 5th Shrek movie (God forbid). But I digress. 3D is fine in moderation and when done right. Movies have done well without it in the past, and they can continue to do well without it in the future.

Yes! I hope people get sick of them soon so they can go away! Every time I want to go to the movies my friends always try to make me go see it in 3d. I'm like.. No! I would rather not have an hour and a half long headache.

I hear this. I hate 3D movies for this reason too--they make me feel sick if I watch them for too long!

I have no problem with 10 minute 3D rides at an amusement park or something, but wearing those glasses and watching 3D things for an hour or two really starts to make my head hurt. Plus, if I'm wearing glasses that day, it's really uncomfortable to wear the hard plastic glasses my theater hands out over my own glasses. And gives me even more of a headache.

We usually try to find a theater airing the movie that has non-3D showings of the films, but it's depressingly hard to find these days! I forget which movie we were going to, but there were something like 10 showings in one day for the 3D version, and only 1-2 in a non-3D version at really awkward times. It was very inconvenient. :(

I went and saw Alice in 3D and hated it. Haven't been back to a 3D movie since. I hope 3D movies and TV's are a fad that are as successful as the pet rock.

Eh, it's just a gimmick. I am not a big fan of gimmicks, either in movies or in video games. I hope it goes away soon, but this is the generation that loves fast, loud, and flashy. So we'll see.

I live in northern WI. We have NO theaters around here that show 3D. I need to drive over an hour to go see a movie in 3D if I wanted too.

It's a gimmick right now that I am sick of hearing. Oooooo your movie is in 3D so is every other movie right now. Even worst if the only selling point of the movie is that it is in 3D. Very bad when a trailer you see on TV only talks about how awesome this 3D movie will be and nothing about the story.

I watched Resident Evil: Afterlife in 3D last night. It was ok. Not alot of 3D like Avitar had. I find the animation ones really stand out. Would I go out and spend countless $1,000 on a tv just because it's 3D ? No of course not. I don't like that you need to have this headgear on to see the 3D and even then your limited to how long you can watch before you starting getting very uncomfortable. I think 3D is the starting point for holographic movie's and such. Now that would be something else..

It's a moot point for me, since I seem to have no depth perception and even with those silly little glasses still see the same image all the time. I suppose I don't mind people trying to revive 3d movies (it's not like it's a new idea, after all) but I hope they won't start making movies solely in 3D format just so they can say it's 'exclusive'

We watch some movies in 3D, but there;s a movie theater here that sells tickets before 6PM for 5$ and has cheap food too, so I often go to that instead. We see the big ones like Avatar at the big theater in the cities, though.
