Exactly what I was thinking! I started working on LW and got it to 180 in 2 days...Then just stopped, but am I correct in thinking that you only need a certain level to learn the "spell"? And once it's learned it's in my book and still usable for me if I change from alchemy to anything else or must I keep alchemy?

I am going to speculate with an educated guess here:

Tailoring mounts require X-level of tailoring skill to learn and to use. If you unlearn tailoring, the mount is still in your mounts tab, still counts towards "Collect this many mounts" achievements, but cannot be used.

Engineering mounts require X-level of engineering skill to learn and to use. Same as tailoring.

It makes the most sense to conclude that as with other profession specific mounts, the alchemy "mount" ability will only be usable if the requisite alchemy skill is maintained.

My druid is my alchemist/herbalist. So having her able to turn into something to fly will seem a bit redundant. :)

Same!

But I'm going to have to dedicate an alt to taking up the herbalism skill since I don't want to waste all my gold picking up what I need in the AH.

Same here, but I guess the ability to carry your friends will make up for the redundacy other times. Plus a dragon looks cooler than a bird, IMO.

There is no denying its cool, but I was hoping for something more unique. Anyone will be able to get a dragon almost exactly like that. You can't get a flying carpet or helicopter without being an engineer or tailor.

*nods* I'd think for alchemy they could come up with something more unique and fitting of the profession instead of just another random dragon.

It's still an *awesome* idea, I just wished they would have been a bit more creative.

LW and BS don't get much love or fun things it seems...but not sure what one would add to it.

<-- is an alchemist. I think this is awesome, I can finally convince some friends to move to my realm on Wyrmrest since I can ride them around in the oldworld, outland, and in northrend. XD, sounds really cool but this beut' is probably really hard to make. It will probably take long hours of farming or something but I have a feeling that in the end it will be totally worth it. XD XD

Vial of the Sands smells of a bronze dragonflight connection. And if there's an alchemy based transformation from that....well, why not a dragon? I don't care too much about whether it makes sense, though; the functionality is amazing.

That better not be the only perk alchemists get, though. And seriously, you'd think leatherworkers/blacksmiths could make more heavily armored mounts of their own - just combine a purchased mount with whatever materials and bam, there ya go.

Actually I hadn't thought of that connection, so it makes a bit more sense thinking of it on those lines. I still would have liked to see something more original, since it seems every expansion we just keep getting dragon mounts (don't get me wrong, I love dragons, but there's so much more they could do too!).

It just reminds me of Mount Hyjal and the vials of eternity quest. :D

I do agree on too many dragons, though. >_<

(I haven't seen this asked, and it may be in the link, but I couldn't find it.)

Can you use the mount more than once, without the potion/elixir, or do you need to make it each time?

It does look really cool, and I kind of agree with the 'too many dragons', just from seeing them in Dal.
