Bringing home a new friend

I work in a pet store, and we're currently running an adoption program with the local animal shelters. Instead of bringing in litters of kittens, we're showcasing homeless cats from the rescue societies and selling them out of our store for no profit.

Since Dexter passed my boyfriend and I have been considering getting another cat. Not to replace him of course, but I'm sorely missing the companionship of an affectionate cuddler. Our other cat, Hex, has never been the type to sit down and be petted, he's too hyper to stay in one place for long. Not only that, but he's been so lost without Dexter. We know he's really lonely and confused.

Anyways, a male cat came into the store last week from the shelter and I was really taken with him. He's a big orange and white guy who's one of the most affectionate and loving cats I've ever come across. He's a sweetheart that would like nothing better than to sit in your lap and be cuddled for hours on end. He gets along great with other cats and even dogs, which is perfect for our household. He's just...exactly what we were looking for.

So, he's coming home with me tonight after work. His current name is Tommy, but I think we'll give him a new one. EDIT: Now named Ichabod! :D Thanks Kryte.

The only pictures I have right now are the ones that were on the Rescue website. He's a really handsome boy:

I'm really excited to get him home and introduce him to Hex. I'm sure they'll get along fine after they get used to each other, and the company will be good for both of them.

Due to the time of year and his orange colouring I've been trying to think of some Fall/Halloween themed names perhaps. Ones that don't sound too feminine (I thought of Pumpkin but it sounds kind of girly doesn't it?)

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions feel free to put them out there! :D

Well, the obvious suggestion is Jack (o' Lantern, Skellington). But let's see what else we've got...

Spider (he is a cat)
Autumn (somewhat girly...)
Will o' Wisp
Lantern
Rake
Crisp
Scarecrow
Ghost
Ichabod
Orange (>_>)
Haunt
September
Mask
Trick

Jack? as in Jack-o-lantern.. Jack Skellington and Captain Jack Sparrow?

Edit.. Oh noes.. beaten.. lol

Horus
Osiris
Damien
Edgar (Allen Poe)

I think a strong and slightly ominous name would be cute for a cuddly kitty. My lap cat's name is Mystique after the x-men villianess

Okay, yeah, just suggested Ichabod to my boyfriend and he loved it. I do too, one of my favourite Halloween stories as a kid. I think that's the one. ^^

Aaaah, he's adorable! I remember you disappeared last night 'cause you were introducing him to your other cat, how're they getting along?

They're doing awesome! Ichabod (or Icky as we're calling him xD) is so chillaxed. Hex followed him around as he explored, but neither showed any signs of aggression, Hex was just wondering who the heck he was. x) This morning he was as cuddly as ever and was hanging out with me as I was getting ready for work.

I'll have to find the camera and take some photos soon.

Ichy's ADORABLE!!! :D I'm relieved he has his own name, in all honesty; the second I saw "orange" I was like "oh no, you've gone and tamed Azzy IRL!"

*petsfuzzy* So happy for you. :)

Daw, those pics are adorable!

I love the ones when he's in the chair. He's all, "Dis my chair! RAWR." *spreads out and takes up as much space as remotely possible to show this*

The second one up from the bottom is quite a good look for him too XD What an expression.

He looks so soft and cuddly, eeee :D
