I really like the concept behind chimeras and their sheer size is awesome, but I'm not particularly fond of any of the available skins (and there aren't many to choose from). The brown and white chimeras have primitive graphic features that bug me, like the really awful looking spikey hair on their necks, and I never really fell for the newer skins either. I have tamed and abandoned Nuramoc twice; the bright flying purple beast is just too flashy for me.

I would like to see a chimera that looks more natural (similar color schemes to the white and brown ones) but has an updated model.
And I realize that the odds of a prominent Blizzard developer stumbling across this thread and being inspired by my post are very, very slim, but this is more just for empty wishes. :]

What about you guys? What family do you think deserves more models/color schemes?

Well at least chimeras have 2 models (and there are several unused outland skins, as noted in one of the sticky threads). Bats still have 1 model, 4 skins. Sporebats have 1 model, 3 skins. Thankfully, a lot of unloved families have done well out of Cat so far: crocs, crabs and silithids all got up to a decent number of skins this time round.

There's an unused white outland model in the files.

Theres a whole bunch of unused models in the model viewer for a bunch of pets, should just put them in where they can and/or make stuff that not-tamable tamable.

I've never been a huge chime fan, aside from maybe Nuramoc, but that outlandish red one is droolworthy.

Hmm. Well now that they have such awesome abilities, it stands to reason more people will want one... and the current selection does seem a little limited.

One thing they might consider in a new model would be to have 3 heads - being known for having multiple heads, and now that core hounds and (some) carrion birds also have 2 heads, it would make sense to "up the ante" if only in just one segment of the population... another possibility would be to have the body sort of split down the middle e.g. have a bat wing on one side and a bird wing on the other, or etc.

Probably won't happen anytime soon though, if ever... though I could see them at least unlocking the unused skins that have already been designed.

Don't like the outlands chimera model much, but I'd make an exception for that white skin, truly is lovely.

A bit off topic(?) : I love chimera's and would love to see new skins (at least), but they all have one quirk: The wing size, and having the wings slapping through the master. @.@

On skins: I love both, but I tend to prefer the old world ones; I don't see them much for once and they seem cuter, to me at least. :3

I know that it's a common thing with chimeras, but couldn't Blizz make them like bats; the bats wings don't do that, nor any other flying pet... so why them? Are they not sized/centered right (bats for the centering-thing, the wings never touch a player), or something else?

I wouldn't mind seeing the Chimeras with a grounded idle/standing pose. Instead of flapping at your side, they could rest on the ground similar to this:

I'd love to see new Chimaera skins. I'm not fond of the Outland ones (they're too alien for me, their faces just freak me out) and I don't really like either of the 'normal' skins' colors.

Other pets that could use new skins?

Devilsaurs (only 4 choices, and one insanely difficult to get at that)
Dragonhawks (only 4 skins...there's at least 3 others in the game, but you can't tame them )
Bats (only 4 skins, and they're all very 'neutral' colored, it's bland and boring to me at least...)
Sporebats (same problem for me...only 3 available skins, all very 'neutral' colors, no fun!)
Core Hounds (only 3 skins, and only 1 'normal' one, the other two have that alien look that I'm not too fond of)
Moths (I'd really LOVE to see some more colorful moths! We only have 2 bright skins, but moths can be VERY bright and beautiful)
Rhinos (again only 4 skins, and again, most of them similar colors)

I would mention warp stalkers and crabs too, but we already know they're getting a major overhaul with new available skins, so I won't. XD

Would be very nice indeed. If we got hippogryphs, gryphons, and wyverns I'd hope that they'd all be on the ground too.

I agree. It seems like it'd be tiring to flap your wings while staying in one place just to sustain you. Poor things.. they need a break!

i think chimeras need more color too (well id love to see more color cross the whole game). but please tell me where the white outland chimera is! please say its tamable!

That White one doesn't exist yet. It's just in the model viewer files.

Cool I had the two missing Outland skins (white and yellow) on the untameable skins list already, but I hadn't added those other ones!

I did see there were green and beige skins listed in Wowmodelviewer but they seemed to be half missing. i.e. if I selected green it might show a green torso but keep the rest of the body of whatever colour I last looked at, so I left them out. Perhaps I should add them anyway. You seem to have full models for them, though. Did you get them directly from the MPQ files?

I hadn't seen that orange Outland skin listed on WMV at all. How do you see skins in mpq files if they're not shown in WMV? I didn't realize that it didn't list everything.

The way they're going with adding new and missing skin colours to the game, I'm feeling confident we'll see a lot more soon. And beasts like chimaeras probably deserve it more, since they have fewer options to begin with.

Ya, I pulled the skins right from the MPQ files using a program called My Warcraft Studio and made a quick model edit so I could see the skins on the models. I got a few more that I pulled from the MPQ files that I could post pictures in your untamable skins list.

EDIT: Looks like most of the skins that where only found in the MPQ files are being used for new pet looks in cata. Only ones I don't see on your list is these three chimeras, so feel free to use these pictures for your topic. The pictures are named the same way the skin is called.
