Sorry if this is old info, but though I've seen mention of red and purple tameable shale spiders, I didn't see anyone mentioning orange ones. The Deep Spiders (lvl 83) in the caverns of Crumbling Depths (northern Deepholm) come in multiple colours. I tamed this orange guy not far inside the entrance: I only saw the orange one at the entrance area though. Even though they all share the same mob name, I think they're colour-coordinated to particular parts of the caverns. The rest seemed to be mostly (or all) purple or red, except...

I detected a rare spawn called Jadefang (lvl 85), who is the only green I've seen (apart from the critter versions that are running everywhere). For a long time I couldn't reach him, though I could see his blip. He's very tricky to reach, and it requires both later quest access AND a bit of ingenuity. So don't go looking for him until you're at least up to the daily quest stage of Therazane rep.
Here he is: He is tameable, but he's 85, so I couldn't . Instead I had to settle for killing him, because he also drops a minipet green shale spider: Rare, unique colour AND drops a minipet. This guy is gonna be hard to get when Cata goes live, unless they add some more green ones :/

Personally I prefer the orange one (it's the nicest of the four we've seen, in my opinion) but I feel bad for the folks that want to tame him... I solemnly swear to only kill the green on ONCE, for the minipet, and only after checking that there aren't any hunters in the area that want to tame him! Solemnly!

(Is the minipet boe or bop? That'd make a difference.)

I think you made a mistake, you only posted a green one's picture. I saw orange and immediately thought of orange rocks, but you only have green ones posted

No, the first one is a yellow-orange shading. She couldn't tame the green one.

Shale Spider 'colours' seem to be mostly dominated by the eye glow and not exactly the body colour.

Well, the purple one is my goal then. Though, an early apology to all hunters after that rarespawn, because my warrior will be killing it when he is high enough level because I want that minipet.

Thank you, Wain; ever since the green one was uncovered in the model viewer, I was hoping he'd pop up. Arachne NEEDS to be this particular spider, since she was originally a green tarantula.

I guess I'll be hunting him twice. >_< TAMING THE FIRST TIME.

I'm glad they're adding/added new Shale Spider colors! The orange-eyed Shale Spiders are my new favorite Shale Spider color.

Somewhat random aside: The whole shale spider crashing on char select screen is still there, which I totally forgot about when I went and tamed one for giggles (Jadefang wasn't up so I just grabbed a red one). Is there any good workaround other than the "clickrealfasthopeyougetlucky" tactic?

If you really get desperate, I'm not sure if this will work, but I found that switching factions temporarily would work around that "hunter freeze on login" bug. Perhaps it would for that too, as it resets a number of things on your character. You don't lose your pets, but it puts them away and resets your location and hearth. It's a pain though as you also lose some flight and all seahorse points, so getting back out to vash'jir requires a flight from the Wetlands.
