So far at the target dummies...

I've been testing a few pets tonight on the beta, before bed. It was rather fun!

First I used a cunning chimera pet. Sinister, his name is, wasn't too hot on damage. Together we topped off at roughly 6k. However, his aoe will be invaluable for trash and whatnot; definitely a keeper.

Next, Reptar the good ol' devilsaur. Being the traditional BM pet of choice, it came to no surprise when we managed to even out at 7.5k.

There was an interesting twist when my ghost saber, Void, and I combined efforts to pull an astonishing 9k damage per second. This is with no buffs mind you, besides aspect of the hawk and ferocious inspiration. I was rather pleased.

I plan to test out raptors next. If anyone has a specific request, go ahead and I'll check em out.

Ravager please! :D Spirit beast should pull out ahead of kitty, in theory. The agi buff they both have is super-handy for "soloing." Wouldn't mind seeing shale spider numbers either. I know, tenacity - but they have kings, so that's something. Hyena would be good too. ^_^

If you have an SV offspec, could you test how the wind serpent debuff affects Explosive Shot? Also, could you check wolves, Core Hounds, and Spirit Beasts?

Could also test the magic debuff + arcane shot too. :D

Could you test these pets as MM aswell? I mean would help us MM hunters.

Was Void casting the cat family ability, Roar of Courage ? That would give you additional AP and crit. I'm not sure if that would account for the entire DPS difference, but its a thought...

Out of all the pets tested so far, this looked like the most useful buff, as the devilsaur one is straight crit. Can't say I'm surprised. Uptime on the family buffs seemed pretty good on the PTR; none fell off.

Wait, are you testing it solo with pet abilities on? Wouldn't that just skew to which-ever pet gives the best buffs solo? What is the significance of the results of this test?

I would think every pet theoretically do the same DPS as the other pets of the same tree if you exclude their buff, shouldn't it?

I'd love to see how serpents perform. :)

Also, does anyone know if the hypothetical MM / hyena synchronicity actually bears material results or is it just theory?

Well, min-maxers do solo sometimes as well, so I'm sure this was bound to come up at some point (which pet ups your dps the most soloing?). Course, as we all know, sometimes the highest dps pet isn't the best one for the job, so it's more out of curiosity than anything else, I'd imagine.

Sorry for the delay, I went to bed and proceeded to work. Now that I'm home, I'll tend to irl stuff and then knock out requests tonight. :)

I will use my offspec for the other specs, of course.

Edit: I was indeed using the pet's buffs... meaning the cat was roaring, the devilsaur was reducing healing and boosting my crit, and the chimera was... being itself.

This is indeed curiosity so far, but perhaps I'll try turning them off at some point to see.
