Sexual Dimorphism in WoW [split from other topic]

Well, to be fair, the Alpha-version female Taurens looked just like the males,
only uglier. I think a lot of folks think a female race has to be 'hawt' in order to look good, but it IS possible to make interesting female beast-races without simply making them look more hideous than their male counterparts, or just pasting an animal head on a human-supermodel body.
For instance, I kind of miss the
'slouchy' Alpha female Trolls. I think their faces were redesigned well into looking more 'pretty', but they didn't have to be changed to stand ramrod-straight, imo.

I've always been very fond of the Alpha female Troll, I really loved her design and wish I could play one.

I actually liked the old trolls. Some kind of mix between the new and old would have been perfect. I just don't like the new models with the rods up their spines.

Well the slouching is fine. Just the faces I dont miss.
Wish the male tauren had a neck though...

It does seem odd for trolls i mean why would a male and females bodies be THAT differnt? i mean realisticly that would not happen. I mean look at the forest and ice trolls the males are bulky as yet the females are small. for the jungle trolls they could of used the model we have fine( as they are skinny) but the forest and ice trolls? the alpha females would of fited in nicely. A bulky female for a bulky male.

I agree with Cow; at least the Tauren women have a similar sort of basic build to the men. With the trolls on live, their basic structure seems different.

I'm pretty shallow, I guess.
I like the way the models are now, though I have to say of all the horde races if they were to stay how they were in alpha.. I'd be rocking a troll female still.
The whole sexual dimorphism argument kinda gets to me. Mostly because its trying to put realistic values to something that doesn't even exist in real life. Sure.. if there really were trolls i bet that would be the case but these are make believe creatures subject to interpretation.

I just think the whole idea is kinda silly.
It's also a small victory that we actually have curvaceous female characters. Imagine.. they could all look like blood elves.

Well so is people complaining about why wow animals don't act like their real life counterparts. They don't need to but yet people still complain.
Still female forest/ice trolls just look silly by their males.

Yeah.. damn that Siamese cat mini-pet for not following me around like in real life.. oh wait..
.. not entirely sure if that comment is directed at me or not .. i don't remember complaining about the WoW animals not being realistic..

I still say this is a fantasy game and since its Blizzard's playground, the male and females can look different.
I certainly dont look identical to my friend Nick....

He's quite a bit bigger than me......and some people have hunched backs, most dont. We look different for a reason.

It's a question of consistency in the game itself, regardless of RL equivalents or whatever. WoW species don't get the variety within a species that we do IRL, for obvious reasons.
Anyway, it's just a game. At least the troll women on live are the same color as the men, right?

As far as the trolls the same basic body shape is there, they just got their backs straightened out, their noses toned down a bit and their arms shortened.
