Oh all you PTR explorers... what pets should we be looking for once 4.0 hits but prior to Cata? What new beasts await us?

Are pets even gonna be added before Cata? I was under the impression they wont be added until Cata.

Nope!

4.0 won't have the sweeping landscape changes, as far as we can tell. That'll be the class changes, etc. The world is going to go through upheaval in 4.03, I believe. So we won't have the new beasties until then. But that's still prior to the actual release of Cataclysm, which will bring worgen and goblins and the new level cap, etc.

What you will almost certainly have is a whole lot of empty stable slots...

Gives you time to tame things that may move elsewhere (and gain significant levels) or things that may go completely (such as all the beasties inside Zul'Gurub). Alternatively, just some more pets that are currently in the game that you never had space for!

I haven't checked PTR in while, but the boars in Hellfire were still demons when I looked. I can't think of anything else that I should check.

New pets won't be available, but some pets I am gonna try for before the Cataclysm hits?

Sian Rotam: I'm Alliance and Sian Rotam is kinda the easiest white lion left for me to get, on the beta he is still MIA.

Timber: He is gone, so if you really like Timber, I'd recommend getting him now.

With Krush and Beast, though, presumably we'll have a bucket of haste and our new 10s cast tame, so prospects of taming either may well be better

This is true, however Krush may also be more camped because of it XD

Either way, I'd love to have that pet. I know a few pets I will be going back and taming in 4.0 Pre-cata, that I'll probably spend my time leveling and making a ton more gold.

It's a moot point.

4.0 will have the class changes, so if you want to tame anyone before the BW immunity is removed, do it now. HOWEVER, the taming cast time drops so dramatically in the same patch that solo taming is going to be a joke. I'd personally wait.

My (then) level 72 hunter was able to one shot solo tame The Beast on the PTR last night....and that wasn't even stacking haste or anything. This is leveling gear we're talking about...and it was enough. AND I didn't even bother bringing a disposable (god, I don't like using that word, but I can't think of a better one) corehound with me for the added puppy lust buff.

It's doable.

I'm currently on the PTR doing lots of test tames/beast lores. Nothing new so far, bar the baby kitties that night elves start with ofc. I did run into Rak'shiri on the PTR

There's a LOT of bugs on there atm, including several pretty game-breaking ones. For example, some of my pets seem to delete themselves and then reappear. I find it virtually impossible to control my pets, as well, since there's just far too many pet abilities to place onto the pet bar, and they all insist on deleting themselves or moving around/doubling up on the bars every time I mount/dismount. That, and every time I dismiss pet, then mount, run to a mob, dismount & start my tame, stupid Old Pet suddenly decides he isn't dismissed anymore, comes out halfway through my tame and attacks.

Loque is jealous -.- I actually have to mount, run to mob, dismount, dismiss pet THEN tame.

Bah.

EDIT: I almost forgot, on the PTR for some reason I have to turn all the settings from Ultra (which I normally run at) to Low I don't know why; I can't find any one or pair of settings that seem to bug me out, but I'm lagging quite terribly and it does seem to be graphics lag.
