I know I'm not the only one who does this. xD

Do you ever start a new hunter, and right away go and decide the pets you're going to have for them? Even going as far as to name them in advance?

I do all the time. Usually I go and paste the images of the pets together into one picture for easy reference. Of course sometimes my plans change if I randomly encounter a creature that I hadn't expected to like, but for the most part I have my beasties selected after a window shopping spree on Petopia.

For example, I started a second hunter on the Nesingwary realm (just because I can), so today I've been brainstorming her pets. Sometimes a certain theme will hit me and I stick with it just to make the pet selection more interesting. For my new hunter, a female Blood Elf, I've decided all of her pets will be albino or white, and they'll all have 1 syllable names.

This is what I have planned so far. I know there's 6 pets, and one will have to go, but I'll decide that when I get there. xD Right now I can't choose, hehe.

I've kinda done this with my Neswary Hunter, but not to the extent you have.
I've decided I want to try and get pets that match Taz'dingu color-scheme wise. So, pets of lighter greens/blues/whites. Nothing to bright, because that would hurt his eyes to look at it. Taz drinks a lot. ANYWAY... So I trekked him up to Azuremist to get him a nice blue/green Crab. I plan to get Echeyakee at 16 (dunno why, but I've always liked him more then Humar).
But, then I had a strange moment. I decided, quite suddenly, that I wanted to try a Ravager for the first time, so while I was up there to get the Crab, I snagged a bright bloody alien too. Plan, out the window! XD

As for their names, Taz is a lazy bum. He names his pets versions of their pet family name in Zandali. For instance, Crab. All the four letter word combinations for Zandali are Cyaa, Duti, Iman, Iyaz, Riva, Skam, Ting, Worl, Yudo. The Crab was named Duti. I almost called it Skam...

So many... dirty names come to mind... for all white pets...

I usually pick one pet out that I'd like for a toon, sometimes by color, sometimes by minipet.

When I plan out my hunter pets, it's normally determined by what I want to do.

Also for a while my main hunter's pets all had food names. Mmm, food.
I love theme naming my pets, I think I'll go back to the food names with Chrizesu.

I do this like crazy! Until I made Aoani on Nessingwary, I only had one hunter, so browsing Petopia was always a special kind of torture... But now I get to play around with the pets I want for Aonai!

This guy will be named Frost:


I'll name her Ember:


And this will be Tempest:


It's sort of a theme, even if it only makes sense to me.

Can't say I've really done this with my main hunter, though I've sort of done it a little with Taigi. Not planning ahead, but when I spontaneously decide I want a certain pet family, I tend to pick pets that match her. Since she's a black-and-white cow, most of her pets match that theme (moonstalker runt is black and white, humar is black, the wind serpent I tamed for a short time is white, the new carrion bird I tamed is black).

In fact the only pet that didn't fit this theme is Nokee, my bright yellow boar...and I seriously considered getting a fur-cut just to change to tan and sorta match her. XD

Since my hunter on Nesingwary has blue hair, I decided to go with blue pets. Also, their names are all bits of their animal scientific classification... except for the worm- I chose the name of the beasts in the movie Tremors, since they always reminded me of those, hahaha... Anywho, I'll have to take on the grand moth taming adventure later today...

Hee, I'll totally join you on a Moth journey if you're online then! I'll be home in about 4 1/2 hours from now. xD

AWW I love moths :D I'll go with you guys too if I happen to be on. I may need to resist the temptation to pop over to Azuremyst and tame a brown one, myself..

Do ittttt... we can all get pwn'd by the guards in Auberdine. Or does that not happen on PvE servers ?_? I come from a PvP server so this is all new... lol..

Heh, yeah guards will still attack on sight on a PvE server, thus flagging you for other players to gank as well. xD

Easiest way is for us all to ghost-run it. As long as we log off when we reach the Spirit Healer on the Draenei island, when we log back in we can rez at her and not get booted back to our death location.

Yay taming party! I'm just coming along for the ride really. :3

You won't flag unless you attack back.

Ah I see! *is still new to PvE as well* xD

As long as you (or your pet) don't attack the guards, you won't flag. Wandering into the Exodar (Above and below ground parts) will flag you, so be careful in that area.

Not even the pet! I got attacked at that pvp area in Grizzly Hills and my pet killed the guard without me getting flagged!

And yeah, Exodar spreads out quite far on the ground beyond the visible border, so ya gotta skirt around it.
