Carrion Birds--The New Raiding Pet?

I haven't done a whole lot of testing yet, mostly because I haven't gotten addons transferred over to the PTR, nor checked out the proper new rotations for BM post-changes.

But I noticed something interesting--that Carrion Birds still appear to do quite a high amount of damage with their family special. Well, I say 'still,' but I mean 'now.' My bird at 77 is critting with its Screech for around 1k, and I'm currently in PvP gear/spec. Can anyone try one of these guys in a proper PTR raid setting, maybe swap it with a Devilsaur or something partway through, see if it does higher dps? I've always loved Trachela and would love to see this be the case.

(Edit: I mean a raid setting where all buffs are provided, so that any other buff--crit, agi etc from other pets, is null)

My belief is that carrion birds haven't had their proper skill yet - they're the only pet left with their original, damaging skill. My money is on them getting the same skill effect as bears (enemy damage decrease like demoralising shout) which will make them extremely good pets without putting them ahead on the damage meters.

Quite possible they've been overlooked yeah; it'd be odd if they were the only ones, though. Maybe it'll get changed down the road, who knows... I'm going to see if I can get recount working anyway, just to compare.

Speaking of birds, I found a new Owl in Winterspring. It's the same skin as an dark brown owl in a TBC instance, but I dont believe it's found anywhere else. It's a quest mob named Hell-Hoot, here's a couple screens:

There is a way to get the brown ones outside Sethek Halls. There is a summonable mob in Skettis in Terokar that summons owls that are tameable. However they tame as Carrion Birds! And are kinda tricky to tame...
