So, I work in an office. I have the luxury of internet access while I work, which is why I can be on the forums all day.

It's certainly not frowned upon as long as your work gets done, so I just browse here in between invoices.

Anyways, apparently today the 'IT guy' they bring in every now and then installed a program called eScan to block potentially 'bad' sites.

No issues with that....except suddenly this thing is going crazy. I just tried to go to the forums and along with them Petopia and Mania's Arcania are all blocked for 'pornography'. o_O Just about any freaking website I open has some reason or another for being blocked, most of them not even valid.

Long story short...I am using a proxy at this moment to access the forums, but this sucks big time. I don't think there's any way to disable the program from my side of things, and I certainly can't just go and say "Hey can you relax the parameters on that thing so that I can get my forums back, plzkthx." regardless of the relaxed work atmosphere here.

Can any tech-savvy people think of a way to bypass this? xD The proxy site I found right now is pretty meh...not sure if there's a better one out there. A number that I tried were blocked of course. =P

and have you tried ninja proxy, its what i use at school to look at funny junk

...What? I had to use one when school blocks a lot of sites such as mylifeisaverage...

If you want an IP from Sweden, I could set up a proxy for ya. Kinda'. It wouldn't be very stable.

If you can trick the guy into logging in on the admin account, and then not log off properly, you could simply disable the program by deleting random files inside it's directory.

Okay, so I managed to turn this around somewhat.

Apparently the word 'pet' was flagged in the Pornography category....I work in a pet store, and I often have to look up our vendors and various products. When I found that our own website was blocked, I had a leg to stand on and brought it up. I guess he took out that particular filter word and the forums are free again. xD Lots of images are blocked, but hey at least I can access here now. -_-;

But then animals are already naked. Makes sense...does it...?

Bleehhh...forums are blocked again today. Stupid program must reset every morning or something. /headdesk

Proxy sites it is....

Double post, but I am deviously amused right now.

This morning eScan reverted to its extreme blocking and censorship...even my proxy sites were all blocked. >< So my boyfriend set up a way for me to remote into our server computer at home. I have it open in the Remote Desktop window, and when I'm done I can go into the Registry Editor and remove all traces of accessing it. >D I'm freeeee to visit whatever sites I want now!

I love having a techie boyfriend.

Glad you got it working again. :)

It's not so much that I couldn't do it per se, I just needed his help to tell me exactly how. xD He's more tech savvie than I am concerning those sort of things. :3
