Is Blizz planning on waiting a bit before they will allow race changes to Goblins or Worgen? Same question for perhaps a Human Priest that wants to race change into a Gnome...

I'm curious though if after this would be done, would a lvl 80 Worgen Hunter (formerly NE) start and have to do all the beginning quests for the Worgen (IE the whole starting chain that introduces Worgen) or would a newly xfered Gnome Priest have to go through the new Gnome chain?

I read somewhere that there would be a bit of a wait before race changes are allowed to the new races...but I dunno about all the starting area stuff.

My question would be...would I loose my mounts I have from my current race since worgen don't have mounts?

Now why on Earth would that happen? Worgen just don't have a faction mount which doesn't mean they can't ride mounts...

This is all speculation so I honestly do not know 100%, but this may interest you.

Currently on the beta there are achievements listed for "First Gilnean Worgen 805" and "First Lost Isle Goblin 85". For these achievements (which are Feats of Strength I believe), you must have been the first race specified to hit max level AND have completed the starting quest chains 1-10 for that race.

Now Blizzard hasn't come outright and said we can race change right off the bat, but the existence of this FoS is interesting because it actually specifies between a race-change worgen hitting max level and a new worgen leveled 1-85. This makes me think that perhaps yes, you might be able to race change when Cataclysm first launches.

As for the second part of your question:
Race changing to Worgen is bugged to almighty heaven. Period. XD
Obviously you can't do the starting quests above (as I explained above the quest chain makes the difference between race-changes and 'natural' worgen). But there's a lot of bugs on the beta right now, and just some of them include race change worgens unable to transform between Human and Worgen, unable to use their racial abilities, and plenty more. So really, I'm unable to answer just how race changing to Worgen works.

But I can say this:
The starting quest chain for both new races are huge phases. My bets are on no, higher leveled race changers won't be able to go back and do the quest chain (see FoS again ). Instead you'll probably be given your proper abilities and be done with it, but again, really bugged so I can't say forsure.

If it changes, I'll update my post.

I'm not sure how the large amount of mounts would transfer over right now because Worgen in general are just bugged.

But I'm gonna say no. I don't see any feasible reason Blizzard would just 'take' your mounts. Worgen can still ride mounts, so they wouldn't just take away 2-6 of your mounts. But give Blizzard time to correct the bugs and changes before any real definitive answer as to how they'll fix this balancing issue.

Say if you were a Night Elf and switched to a Worgen, perhaps you would keep the Nightsaber mount(s) still but you just wouldnt be able to use them until you would get exhaulted with Darnassus.

This I would be cool with. I have an NE druid I wanna change to worgen when they come out, and I kinda like my Dawnsaber lol

Well if your not exalted with that fraction your not going to be able to use their mounts period.

I've raced changed before. Lisaara was a night elf. she's now a draenei. She still got to keep the Dawnsaber AND still could use it.

So you still can use the mounts if you race change.

The interesting thing will be what happens to certain home faction mounts when Horde characters change to Worgen.

Nope. Lisaara was only friendly with them and lvl 21. All my sabers became elekks except the dawnsaber cause there wasn't an elekk to take its place so I got to strut it. XD i used that til lvl 40!

As I found, if you faction change and there isn't an equivalent mount on the other side (say, the black horse), you will randomly get assigned ones. I would imagine that if you race change to a worgen from an Alliance race, this will happen... if you're already exalted with everyone (if you had Crusader, say) then you'd keep all the same ones because there's nothing else for them to randomize to.

I know when I changed a horde to alliance, they had the Venomhide Ravasaur from Ungoro. It turned into a Wintersaber but yet I didn't automatically get Exhaulted status with Wintersaber Trainers. Still can use the mount though

I race changed in beta on one of my chars and the mount changed along with it. So they could they're changing the way it works, dunno.

Notice the stipulation "who completed the Lost Isles quest chain." That would hint that they might allow race changes right off... otherwise why would they have to say that part is my thinkin'.

No, they do that anyway. But Night elves have more sabers than Elekks for the Draenei. I have all 5 sabers, theres only 4 elekks(Pretty sure) so the extra saber stayed and I was allowed to ride it. XD
