So I'm just wondering, for those of us/you who have been on beta, which pet do you tend to miss the most when you're back to reality (live) again?

I think for me, surprisingly enough, I miss my monkey! Technically I miss Gondria more, but I know that once the stable expansion comes I can go grab her. But the monkey, ah the monkey.....I won't be able to see him again til Cataclysm. He has such personality, an adorable run, and flings poo (er..."filth"). More than any of the shiny re-skins and such, I miss the most unlikely beast of all, and one I said I hated and wouldn't tame. Now if I can just get my hands on one of those monkeys with a pickaxe, I think I'll be on Cloud 9!

With the new pet families and re-skins, which do you tend to miss the most when you're back in WotLK again, and why?

I miss Buru (okay, okay, Ainamiss). But more than any particular pet, I miss pets holding aggro, because even my tenacity pets can't seem to do well on live. nd I miss focus, because my live hunter's gear isn't amazing, and having to viper every other mob makes Aldera a sad panda.

I'm going to totally derail this, but I watched TotalBiscuit's videos of heroic Deadmines this morning and there were non-elite (and neutral) monkeys with pickaxes in there. Are those the ones you're talking about?

I miss Focus on live as well. On fights like Putricide, I'm Steady Shotting madly, getting so frustrated that it's not returning Focus and dang it, I'm low on mana and wait....mana. Damn, damn, damn....

I'm usually ok on fights in ICC, but for some reason on LK it seems like I blow through mana like crazy. I was especially mana-starved in the final phase. OOM, but gotta shoot the Vile Spirits! *turns viper on for 1.2 seconds before having to switch off again* Yeesh!

I miss using a warp stalker! I mean, I do love my Krushy so, but he's getting old, and needs a rest in a cushy stable somewhere where there's lots of sheep to eat.

But I went out and tame a new chameleon trench stalker, and that thing is so much fun to use. Also, bull mastiffs. Having one of those makes me feel like a guard of Ironforge or something!

Side note - dogs have furious howl, which uses the coyote bark. They use this as they attack, then break into booming dog barks. The effect is very jarring. =|

Gah! I read all about the parrots, but for some reason the monkeys just didn't stick in my mind.

I totally agree with ya, but I had just watched those videos which is why I thought of them.

I end up missing mostly the ability to fly. I log on Live, mount ground, and go, "Bwah? Where's my bronze dra-Oooooh. Live WoW...." I do love on Live the speed and lack of nasty bugs. Much more fun for casual play. XD

I miss Synge, really. And I miss Nether the warp stalker...

My purple warpstalker is definitely who I miss the most. I know I'll get him as soon as the expansion goes live, and at least I can have him in the Beta, but gads I love that pet.

The other one, who took me by surprise actually, is my exposed brain Silithid. <3 Thalamus (kudos for those who get the name) is just such a refreshing, unique pet that I find myself quite taken with him. I originally tamed him as a consolation pet since I've had no luck tracking down Ainamiss so far, but now that I've spent time with him I think I prefer him to the non-brain models. He's coming back in Live to a permanent home. ^^

So when he's under BW, does that make him a HypoThalamus? Or a HyperThalamus?

The only reason I've even been back to live since F&F started is to run my auctioneer toon, I haven't played one bit of live otherwise.

Oh. Forgot about that big nerf. I guess Veph might have to rename Thalamus to Encephalitis instead. :-/

I really miss Ashtail on live, when I first saw a screenshot of him I wasn't overly impressed but something about him ingame is just awesome.

I went out to try a Fox the other night actually and to my horror I discovered their run animation. o_o I wasn't interested in Foxes in the first place really, but I figured since I'm in beta I may as well try out all the new pets. It wasn't bad at all, just not a pet I felt like having, however when I started moving I had to let it go. They have a horrible model glitch where the back breaks every time they run. It's similar to what happens with Hyenas, but on the Fox it's just so much more obvious. >< Poor thing looks like someone snaps its neck and forequarters each time it takes a stride. Don't think I could handle looking at that constantly.
