As I type this, I am downloading the launch-day patch for Star Trek Online. (Pity me!) Now to be fair, I have some history with this game, which is the only reason I bought it. (Okay, okay, my husband has some history with the game. But I have some history with him. History is transitive!) And I don't figure I'll be playing for long.

But just in case anyone else is trying it out, I figured I'd start a thread. And ... right now I am at 12% of the launch-day patch. So it'll be awhile.

In the meantime, here are my top 5 favorite official STO headlines (with my own commentary in brackets):

1. Del Taco and STO Teaming Up [No, seriously!]
2. Subscription Details Revealed [... because they were secret before?]
3. Pre-Order Bonus FAQ Available ["Pre-order now and we'll include this fabulous BONUS FAQ!"]
4. Billing Errors [No surprise here.]
5. Increased Capacity Coming Soon [Prediction: From overcrowded to empty in 3.6 months!]

You'll have to let me know what it's like! ^^

I know that I won't be playing it (I've never been very interested in the sci-fi genre, I'm more of a fantasy person myself. Hence why I didn't like Outland but adore Northrend), but my boyfriend was definitely interested as he's a big Star Trek geek. xD

I'll see what people say about it and then let him know if it's worth it.

They have stupid characters with pointy ears.. Oh wait...

No, I really never got into Star Trek. I'm hooked on Star Wars though and will risk a peek when this comes out!

I was killed ... during the 'teach you how to walk and shoot' tutorial ... by lag (and two Borg).

My favorite part so far is watching my little Vulcan spin around in a circle and then shoot her phaser through her back at an enemy that has moved to the other side of me on the server but not the client.

I love launch day! (Or technically, the day after.)

Aye, lag can be horrible. Still, it sounds rather interesting, and, mind you Kara, it doesn't get much better than pointy ears! Still, the reviews being posted so far have been favorable, I might give it a shot.

Seriously, in a fight I doubt anyone would move that slowly... It took him two seconds to finish a swing! TWO SECONDS!

And! And! Get this -- you can't sit in the captain's chair of your own ship. Well, sure, you can climb up on it and type ;sit, but then you just hunch cross-legged in the seat. You can't *sit* in the captain's chair and say, for example, "Engage!"

(And by the way, Kamalia, you made me spit run & coke out my nose.)

Well that sucks...

But then again, think about EVE, the only other real spaceship MMO. You go trough this fun process of creating your character, face and such, but you never get more than a 300x300 png...
