Has anyone tried rolling a night elf hunter, then faction/race changing him to see if he keeps the White Saber Tiger as a pet? Or for that matter, are there any faction only pets out there right now, that someone could faction change, tame, then faction change back and still keep?

On the PTR right now if you race change you keep your original starter pet. I.E. If you start a night elf hunter, then race change him to a draenei,he'll retain that white saber tiger.

Not sure about the faction change yet, I'll give it a try when I get home.

When you hit lvl 10, does your starter pet become like other pets where it has an action bar and you can rename it?

Yes, as soon as you hit 10 you can learn 'Control Pet' or something along those lines which transforms your starter pet into a 'real' pet. You can then choose to abandon it and tame something else if you want, or keep it and rename it.

I tried making a night elf on the beta, and then changed him to an undead. He kept the tiger.

Odd cause in Beta, it won't allow us to.

I just tried this in Beta and yup, you can rename your level 1 pets now. I don't think you could previously, it might be a recent change.

Maybe. Then again, the worgen area is nuts and extremely glitchy.

You could rename them earlier. I haven't been in the beta from the beginning, so I don't know if you could before.

I've only just recently been in the Beta also. For some reason I was under the impression that pets couldn't be named until 10, but I'm not sure where that came from. xD Oh well, I prefer being able to name them from the start anyways.

I was able to rename my Mastiff (starter Worgen pet) at L.1 and I was invited to closed beta on the first wave of invites..... BUT... after a few minutes (and after I lost the pet bar at pet L.2 or something) its name reverted back to its original name.

Haven't tried naming a L.1 pet since then, so I don't know.

I found it interesting (and slightly relevant) that you can use the Ctrl + 1 and Ctrl +2 commands on your pet, even if it is just a basic, pre-level 10 pet.

It only seemed to work on those commands, I couldn't get Ctrl + 3, 7, 8, or 9 to work.

Just sayin'.

So far no news of it being tameable anywhere else. Currently the only way to have one as a pet is to roll a Night Elf hunter from scratch.

There should be a way for Night Elf hunters (ie mine) to grab one of these, perhaps from the first hunter trainer in Aldrassil or something...

Oh really? When I rolled a new hunter on the PTR a couple of weeks ago, ctrl-1 definitely wasn't working. I always had to "open up" the fight to get any reaction from my raptor. All of the abilities were listed in the pet spell book and clickable, but they had no effect.

I wonder what this change means. Is the pet action bar visible to you, or are you just hitting ctrl-X because you know what that's supposed to do?
