When 4.0.1 hits, will all these Untameables that are in the game now become tameable or will we have to purchase Cataclysm?

They pretty much all require the new world, which won't hit with 4.0.1. If there's any new tameables at all in that patch I'm not aware of them. There are other posts in this forum about it though.

I am curious about this too.

Some beasts are in positions that doesn't really require "The Shattering" to have happened, but Blizzard can do the pet pass to live at anytime from the next patch up til Cataclysm seeing as most of the beasts in Cataclysm aren't around on live right now anyway.

Gezz comes to mind.

I was more thinking Felboars and other animals that are in-game now. Obviously not Foxes, Monkeys, etc.

There are a few that are possible... such as the beetles and wasps in the Tanaris hives (though I doubt we'll see the rares), Qirot in Feralas, the white worms in Duskwood, Hellboars in outlands, Aether Rays, Gezz... Grunter may change appearances. That's what comes to mind though there may be more. These areas really don't change with The Shattering, and none of these are any NEW additions, just previously untameables. So it's possible to just make them tameable before the landscape changes.

However, nothing has been confirmed yet either way. I would guess if they aren't tameable on the PTR they won't get a pass until the landscape changes. But who knows? Blizzard does some strange things sometimes.

This would be my guess as well. I think the PTR is pretty much indicative of exactly what we'll be getting...that's the patch and information they put into the live game after testing. However like ummeiko said, nothing's certain.

It all depends on how much of the changed world you'll see without the expac. My guess would be that any of the beasts in the unchanged zones... But perhaps not, since none are available on the ptr yet.

I dont think any of the untameables will be tameable until Cata's launch.

This is my guess. If you can get to the pet without buying Cataclysm, my guess is that you can tame it. Some pets will obviously be out of reach - shale spiders come to mind. But foxes, beetles, dogs, and the newly tameable silithid family members should most likely all be available. After all, you can tame a moth without buying Wrath, right?

Seconded! That's the landscape changes.

It's highly unlikely they'll bulk-change mobs because many of them are dependent on the new quests and areas to make sense. If they did do it, they'd have to manually go through and change the few they wanted to make tameable - something they could have done any time they wanted anyway. So I don't see this happening.

Well, are they tameable on the PTR? If not, then yes, we will probably have to wait for Cata.

I'm curious about Gezzerak. That would be a neat thing to do be4 cata

I tell you I'm going to have to position my hunter somewhere in the wild because you know hunter's everywhere are either going to be running to Un'goro or somewhere else. Un'goro hosts the devilsaurs' in which I want my loving Pluto, my dark brother, back in arms. Has anybody though how hard it is going to be to get pets like the mighty Devil back with them?

Yeah, I imagine there'll be some (un)healthy competition for a bunch of the rare spawns. That's one reason why I've decided to tame King Dred instead of Mosh...

4.0.3 is basically cataclysm, guys. Just without the extra fancy things. I doubt they'd release a patch the same day as cataclysm so...

We will know one way or the other Tuesday. I hope.
