Stuck for Names Again!

Story follows for those who are interested. Long story short, though, I need a name for Snarler! I had him before and he was "Atropos." It is just a bit too long and doesn't sound good, though, to me. I named him "Snarler" but, well, I just plain don't like it. Here's some names I like, and why I won't use them, and maybe you can help me get something more suitable!
You'll LOVE how picky I am. Basically, I'd like a name referring to darkness, which is masculine, or at least not feminine, without being aggressive or "burly" if that makes sense--Snarler seems to me to be a fast predator, not a big chunky one.
Shadow: Too plain, common and not "strong" enough.
Shade: Too short and I don't like the way the word ends.
Ruin: Considering it, but still quite short. Also sounds vaguely female.
Grim: I like this one, but it was my OCJ's name and I think I'll save it for him!
Nightshade: Sounds too female >.>
Bane: I like it, but a bit too "butch."
Devil: I like it but I'm not sure if it fits.
Outlaw, Urchin, Vagabond, Nomad or Drifter: I kind of like these, and am considering the last one. None of them really scream "black wolf" to me though.
Taming story below, for those who are interested:
Well, I just abandoned the Oil-Stained Wolf. I loved him at first, but I never ever use him--somehow I feel like the oil buff on the pet doesn't make the pet itself unique, and Northrend Worg model just isn't me. I haven't been using Skoll much either, for that matter. Brief story, actually--
I was waiting for next week (patch right?) so I could pick old Snarler up again. He was always my buddy; I'd wanted to tame him since I rolled a hunter, and the minute I was 42 I ran out and got him. Eventually he got raiding-replaced by the Ramparts wolf (Thrakk--going to get HIM back too eventually!). Well anyway, I was in Feralas doing the exploration thing. I took a half-hearted look around for Snarler, but truth be told I was kind of hoping he wasn't there. See, even though I don't really LIKE the oil-stained wolf, I still worked my butt off and stressed to get him, and a lovely ally did so much to help me, plus the patch in a week or so would've made it possible to get both... but I knew I wouldn't be able to turn Snarler down. He wasn't there.
Happily I rode on out to Freewind Post, exploring along the way. As I reached the elevators beneath the Horde town, messages began to spam my WorldDefense--"Camp Mojache is under attack!" Sighing, I rode the elevator up, took the flight path back, and on the way, noticed "Snarler" on the tracker. Oh God.
Well, I landed, and dispatched the alliance hunter who was wiping the camp. He had a lowbie with him, so I let them go (the attack was a real town-wiper, mind, not just enough to escort a lowbie--and the allies have a way around anyway--but I'm nice sometimes, I swear!).
I waited a good half hour, then went back to where I'd seen Snarler--and he was still there. Shaking my head at my own incoming stupidity, I abandoned Void (my Oil wolf) and tamed Snarler back. And I didn't regret it!! Seeing him beside my little orc was like coming home; I really did miss him. I named him Snarler and then realized I don't like it, so I grabbed a Certificate of Ownership, and I need a new name >.<
Halp?
