Taming a Temple Scarab in Uldum

Can anyone who has done this let me know if there's some knack for making them come up out of the ground. I've sat around for ages, on the ground and in the air, but all I see are little piles of earth sometimes, where Track Beasts indicates they are. I only ever saw one above ground and I was too low level to tame it at the time.

Have you tried landing on the pile of dirt?

Put a trap on the pile of dirt, maybe?

Get someone lower level to walk over them? Might be you're too high to aggro them from underground perhaps?

Run around with arms in the air, screaming like a 'derp' ( :F ) and grab a jar and put the dirt in it, shake it good and scream ''I GOT A JAR OF DIRT, I GOT A JAR OOOF DIIIIRT :FFFFF'' until the beetle begs to be let out. Then you tame it.

..

No?

Anyhow. I think what others said is the most reasonable :)

I am not on beta so I have no real idea concerning the game mechanics.

Hmm, I recall when I flew to Uldum to tame one they were just walking around normally on the ground. I got mine from the Neferset City I believe.

I've tried landing on the dirt. I've tried /targeting them and tab targeting them. I've even tried digging them up with archaeology. I'm 84, and they're 84 according to Wowhead and the one I saw, but they're neutral so they won't aggro. I've reported it as a bug, in case it's a bugged bug, so to speak. Thanks for the ideas anyway.

Have you tried doing the Magic Beetle Dance? Or if that fails you might have to resort to the Hokey Pokey?

that's /magicbeetledance, right?

I'll give ti a go.

[edit] Nah, Juat rained beetles for 30 mins. They were critters, sadly.

If I got close to them, they burrowed under and never came up. What I ended up doing was shooting a freezing trap from max range, trapping, and then running in and taming.

I saw no mention of you trying /hokeypokey, however... :ugeek:

I found there were a couple of locations where they seem to be bugged and stay under the ground indefinitely (up north near the border with Tanaris). Head further south. There are usually plenty that appear.

I see what you mean now. I've never before seen all of them broken at once. Usually only a couple. Maybe it's because the beta servers hadn't been rebooted in days and they tend to break over time? Not sure. Hopefully the next reboot will fix it.

So, the servers had a bit of a hissy fit and when I could get back on the scarabs seemed to be working, and I've got one. Let's hope it works in Live.
