Interesting Tidbit!

Hunter

* Newly created Hunters have a pet bar.
* Beetles cannot be tamed.
* Several Hunter Pet spells appear in the Pet tab of the Spellbook before a Hunter is able to actually use them.
* Pets have no animation for the ability "Carrion Feeder."

This excerpt is from the Known Issues post RE: Patch 4.0.1

Notice the bolded.

So, new tameables are in-game now? Maybe? ;)

How odd....this is for the patch that's being applied to live realms? Not the beta?

If so, why would they mention anything about Beetles...they weren't tameable on the PTR of this patch were they? Hmm. Interesting indeed.

*is going to check on Gezzarak when she gets home regardless*

Fixed that for ya.

Hah! Yeah, I saw that, and my ears perked right up. Maybe they're adding the new families that are already in game with this patch? We won't get foxes and whatnot until 4.03 for sure, but maybe Gezzy..... >_>

/digs in her bags for her scrolls so she can check too

/gives Veph a high five for Gezzy-love

I guess it's because there already are some beetles in the game in some of the silithid hives. So Blizz wants to make it clear that these still aren't tamable yet. There aren't any foxes, dogs, monkeys and shale spiders, so for them it goes without saying.

But, by that logic, why not say "Felboars are not tameable."

And this is a list of known issues...Which implies that beetles should be tameable...Right?

/nods sagely

It's like saying "The sky is not green yet." That means it SHOULD be green! Ah f%^& it, I just want a warpstalker.

Well, I was thinking in terms of *totally new pet family* while hellboars and other skins are just aditions to already existing families.

But you're right about the "known issues" thing of course. That really doesn't make sense.

I read this before. That's very interesting. I'm glad there is gonna be a new pet(s) in 4.0. I'm glad it's a bug that Beetles aren't Tameable in 4.0.

Seems logical to me.

I guess we were getting beetles this patch but they are "bugged" (heh.. beetles.. bugged..).

*snerk* Bugged. Hahahahahah

I really, truly, positively, absolutely hope this is an indication that we'll get the new tameables that aren't tied to landscape changes - felboars, Gezz, beetles, silithid wasps, the new nether ray skin... Hive queen anyone? :D

I'm trying not to set myself up for disappointment, but I have to admit this has my excitement peaked. Definitely going to be checking on the above mentioned beasts as soon as I'm in game (if others don't get there first). Should report here if anyone finds info later! :D

That's interesting....

Yay Blizz if this means what we think it means. :)

If you follow the logic we've gathered here with that tidbit, one has to, even slightly, believe the other current in-game pets are definitely tameable.

Much like Veph, I don't want to set myself up for disappointment, but it has me intrigued to no end. IF it is true, Felboar, here I come! (Oh... yeah. And Gezz, too.) :D

I don't want to be a downer, but I suspect they singled out beetles in the notes because they're the only representatives of a new pet family that will be present in this patch. There won't be any foxes, shale spiders, monkeys or dogs. Hopefully it does mean other in-game creatures will be tameable, such as the boars, but I suspect it's just they mentioned beetles because of the new family thing and they didn't bother with currently non-tameable representatives of old families.
