Long story inc! I'll break up the text with shiny pictures ^^



Well, I don't normally post in this forum. I am a pet collector! But minipets and mounts are something I've been working on recently; got my fawn and was sitting at 75 mounts last I checked. But there's one I've always wanted, not to collect, but to HAVE--a black drake! I'm not a raid leader type, my guild is not a raiding guild per se, and I have terribly bad luck with rolls. I've lost the roll on the black drake many times.



But I love the whole story of the black dragonflight, I'd love one for a pet if I could have one but a mount would ofc be amazing. And the fact that the upcoming expansion has so much to do with the blacks... It made me sad that the patch was coming tomorrow, I have no idea how much longer they will be available... In short, a black drake was my dream mount.



My guildmate kept urging me to make a guild run, but most of my guildies have been away recently--burned out by WoW I guess. Not to mention the fact that I really wouldn't feel right asking them all to come along and not give them a chance for the mount... I finally mentioned in /g chat that I was considering running this and paying people to join--and a couple people said they could lend a hand. I figured it resets tonight anyway, so it was a quick way for people to make gold--I didn't have to feel bad about reserving something, which I'm normally iffy about.



So off I went into /2, with an ad along the lines of "LF DPS, Tank + Healer for OS3D 10, Drake -reserved,- paying 250g per person." After sorting out the clueless people ("that's Malygos right?")--or so I thought--I managed to make what looked like a half-decent raid.


Fast forward 6 wipes later. "Why can't we just kill all the drakes?" "WHY are we clearing the trash?!" "Oops, I buffed as you reset him." "Oh, you wanted Bloodlust?" (after myriad /rw BLOODLUST PLEASE), "Lol, these fire tornadoes throw me!" (this last one midfight...) and various people afk'ing, dc'ing... It was unbelievably stressful. Most of the people were good sports about it, though. In the end, I doubt the gold I paid out covered the repair bills of some, and I offered more, although it wasn't taken. AND of course there was one "WHAT'S UP WITH THE NINJA" question, despite having reiterated 3-4 times via /raid, /rw etc that the drake was reserved and gold would be paid out...

/shudder.

But in the end, my solid guildmates, their friends and these few randoms managed. I was out some gold and a lot of composure, but up one drake!

I hope I NEVER have to do this again.

I attempted to make a similar offer to people to do the 25 man version, but was accused with "You'll just ninja the mount!!!" etc.

OOOO how LOVELY!!! Grats on your wonderful new mount... I must admit, to being just as giggly-thrilled when I got my bronze drake... yeah, the one EVERYONE gets... but see, I have a terror of PUGS, so pugging that instance 12 times until I won the roll was a LOT like the pain you went through.

What are you naming it? (him/her)

Last week I won that mount. I went to an OS10 3D for the title, and I offered to not roll on the mount if they would include me. A guildie, who was running the raid, insisted I roll on the mount since I will have earned it just as much as anyone else.

Amazingly, I rolled a 99 and the black drake- a mount that was just a pipedream and I NEVER thought I'd get- is now mine!! I abandoned my other two flyers and use him exclusively. I'm terribly excited to work him into Etona's RP!

Tbh, even if it were common, I'd still LOVE this mount!!

And I hadn't thought of naming it. If I had one for a pet it'd be Coalwing without a doubt, so I assume it has to be the mount's name then

Grats on your black drake! I got mine recently, thanks to my guildies.

I had gone to OS3D a few times before, but wasn't allowed to roll on drake because A. I was new, and hadn;t been around and B. THere had been people who stayed with the core group farming that drake for weeks. They were priority. Well, it got down to one more person and me. I had just been generally talking to my dad (Co-Raid Leader) and he said I might get lucky and if I talked to the last person, I might get a shot.

Well, a few wipes later, we down him. Black drops, and I'm watching, and waiting, and the other person decides for VoA, the next thing, he'd bring another char. So I'm here, going, "I can haz roll?" and jokingly, he's all, "There's a drop?" A go ahead signal. I roll, win the drake with no competition, and immediately get out and mount up.

Beautiful. All I can say.

So now, Azunara is joined by Ebonyira the Black, and I'm really happy I get to ride her come Cata. The ultimate irony. Fixing the world's troubles, caused by the black flight....with a black dragon your friend.

I have eight more runs before I get mine. Our guild is running it on a weekly basis and the drake is handed out based on a priority list, so no rolling involved. We are attempting to get one mount per account that wants one.
We have already had 8 successful runs, so I'm half way there, woot.
