I can't remember if this has been covered...if so, sorry about the repost.

I was doing Uldum quests last night and found red Bloodsnarl Hyenas! I know for a fact that they haven't been there; I flew around to scope the area when I first arrived and I only found an armadillo and some buzzards. Long story short, I believe that they're part of a series of phased quests. It seems that whenever you get a quest for a weakling tol'vir, the hyena show up. And they're red! =D So yeah, 82-83 mobs, non-rare, easy to find in the west sector. Yay!

Hehe, yeah I think these were found a while back, I've had them mentioned in my List of Pet Skins thread, but no worries, it's been a while so I'm sure the thread's buried.

Actually, forget it, they can't be tamed. ='(

I'm sure they'll become tameable in live. There's a lot of beasts in Beta that seem like they should be obviously tameable, but probably just haven't been flagged yet.

Even if they're not, I remember there being plenty of red hyenas in Tanaris now.

Actually in live and afaik in beta, the only red hyena tameable is one rarespawn red hyena, in Tanaris. The rest are brown/orange live, and afaik on beta a mixture of that and purple I think.

Sorry, you're right. They're the purple skin, not the red one. At least there's one tameable (rare) red one there, though.
