I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. But I can't buy food or anything else from a vendor if it's above my level.

My hunter tamed a pet that didn't eat meat or fruit, and there wasn't a food vendor nearby that sold bread, so I sent some money to a lowbie alt to buy some bread in Stormwind and send it over.
I've done this before, and it never was a problem, but now my level 22 alt isn't allowed to buy level 65 food. A message pops up telling me I have to be level 65 before I can buy that food.

My husband rolled a new rogue, and wanted to buy her some level 5 vendor gear (it's only a few silvers and better then lootdrops/quest items) when he was level 4 to have it ready in his bags for when he dinged. He wasn't allowed to buy gear above his level either

Is it me, or is Blizzard starting to take this sort of hand holding to far? I understand the newbie tooltips are helpful for new players, and I'll adjust to the HUGE quest arrows and so on, but I should at least be able to buy things from vendors even if I can't use them yet.

wow realy? I should check that out. I usually buy a sword I cant use yet and grow into it. If I cant buy it..thats just messed

I think the AH is still fine, I haven't tried that yet though. I did send a bunch of greens over to my lowbie mage (levelled higher then her) and she could pick up the mail. So I think it's a vendor only issue.
And while most people won't be buying much vendor gear, I really find it annoying with the food.
Then again, I've run into those wandering traders sometimes, like the one in Redridge that sells nice green bracers, and bought stuff from them for later.

It's odd for sure. Even if you'd buy a higher level item by accident, you could always leave it in your bank for later. I don't see why Blizz would need to "protect" players like that, the fact that the item is colored red is a dead give away.
I wonder if it's a bug. I'll post it on the EU forums, but I'm not sure if devs check those often...

Don't think its a bug, just tried the theory myself, it won't allow you to. Think Blizzard is finally loosing faith in player intelligence? (Thats rhetorical by the way...)

I noticed it with drinks, i was almost next level and wanted to buy some already but was not allowed, so stupid.

I decided to see myself, and yup, can't buy the Dal food on my level 20 lock. Aww.
