Lately things have been getting worse and not better for hunter's, at least mine. Focus has been dragging on me and continues to eat at what I once had.
I was willing to give focus a chance, I looked forward to it. I tried it out, I kept trying it out. I theorized and tested, I PvP'd, PvE'd. It seems, I've lost the spark I've had since day one of being a hunter. Sure, pet heals and more pets is great don't get me wrong but, I miss "Hunter" damage. Press 3 buttons then mash 1 till you can hit one more button then continue to mash that same one button. A lot of my favorite things about being a hunter, just up and went poof. They said they wanted to fix hunters having issues with low resources? They did the opposite.
Another thing that has gotten to me is that with most my damage coming from my pet, my ICC gear means nothing.
Sorry to rant but I wanted to let everyone know that I am taking a break from WoW.
When another patch or some fixes come for this broken patch and system I'll be back.
I didn't want to just up and Leave for week(s) on end without telling everyone. (Fworbin's Idea)
So don't freak out, I didn't get hacked or something worse; just taking a break.

I love Focus. It makes much more sense than mana and seems to regenerate faster than Energy.
Incidentally, Blizz just hotfixed Hunter dmg with all signature attacks. Perhaps see how that affects our DPS before leaving?

Aww I'm sorry you feel that way. I know a lot of folks do.
I'm with Antares, thought, I love the changes. Also, coincidentally, I did crazy damage in a heroic last night. I didn't know about the fix during downtime, but it makes sense now - I was doing ~5.5k throughout with a level 77-78 pet, as BM.
If you don't like having so much damage come from your pet, try one of the other trees? BM is supposed to be pet-oriented, always has been. There were some threads on here about MM rotations that sounded like it's fun once you get the hang of it.
What I keep thinking of is how my dps tanked and I had to relearn things when Wrath hit. I worked my ass off figuring out how to maximise my toon, and I managed to be the first dps in the guild to hit 5k dps! (Doesn't sound like much now, but back in Naxx that was AWESOME!

) Personally, I'll be doing the same this time around. Work on my toon, get the feel of things, learn how to be excellent at the class, and basically work with the changes instead of being upset or sad that things changed.

Yeah i would try a different spec... as a BM hunter I know that my pet does a lot of damage for me and i'm fine with that.
Maybe its easier for me because I'm not picky on what my dps is, or that i'm one who doesnt want to spend over 100g for a gem and I just take the cheap blue ones in my gear (+4 agil isnt worth 90g more IMO).
I love focus, no more need for mana/ water, and i find it super fun being able to pound on arcane shot when i'm full (or multi shot when multiple enemies)
I love the new changes... its taking me a bit to figure out good rotations, but i usually will end up just mashing whichever button is blinking and then clicking on the yellow thing (focus fire) when the arrows spawn out of my invisible wings

Hugs for Zin!
I'm so sorry you're feeling down about your Hunter.

I know there's a lot of people who are disenchanted with their classes right now, and I really feel for them. Hopefully things look up in the near future.

Seems more to me like they changed it from
Pre-4.0: "burn all the mana you want on a pure DPS barrage, you have enough to still get through the fight... but the group is going to have to wait for you to drink after every fight... or aspect hop between DH and viper (with the time taken away from shots) to maintain some kind of DPS/mana balance"
4.0: "between-fight energy recovery is a thing of the past, and you no longer need to worry about taking extra time to aspect hop as the new and improved steady shot now includes this as built-in functionality e.g. steady has become more than just a "filler""
Although it's taken (still taking) some getting used to, I'm liking it.
Now if they can just get around to getting the slash commands working again in our macros...

Sorry you feel that way, Zin. I'm personally finding the changes a bit hard to get used to, but the extra pets more than make up for it, IMO.
Maybe a break from WoW would do you some good. Or, if you didn't really want to give up the game all together, why not make an entirely new alt, of a class you haven't really played before, and start from scratch. That way, you won't really have anything to compare it too. Sometimes I find that starting a new alt (or going back to a neglected one), helps to break up the monotony the game can have if you're constantly playing with the same character.
Whatever you decide, I wish you the best. Just remember that even if you take a break from WoW, you're still more than welcome here.

Totally understand Zin. Feeling a lot of that myself. I like the functionality of Focus, but its hard to get used to. I'll get past it I'm sure. Focus > mana still for sure. They are working on it to make things easier and work better.
Honestly, lately I've just felt burned out. I'm done waiting for this expansion. For the continued ramping of hype, the anticipation has become just tiresome. I deal with it by focusing on RL and DF. DF helps alot since its a terrific timesink and there's a million and one things to learn just to play it.
Play an alt for a little bit to get a bit more perspective if you do keep playing. I honestly believe 6 months or so is needed before they will be close to having the hunter class balanced closer to what they intended.

What i am doing to get myself away from the hunter stuff is playing a alt. I mean 1 shoting on a rogue? win!
