Most Random NPCSCAN alert

I'm sure others have had this, I heard about Putridous the Ancient's massive NPCSCAN box, but I was in the INN in Dalaran (ally side near the fishing lady) and all of a sudden my NPCSCAN went off for Putridous the Ancient (i dont know how to spell correctly). I hopped over to the platform, and started flying north and sure enough he was walking around Waaaay up near Sindrogosa's fall.

I thought it was really weird but neat nonetheless. Has anyone ever had any other weird experiences with NPCSCAN?? (besides having hunter's pets setting it off which happens frequently)

Haha, yeah Putridus can be picked up from so far away. xD I always seem to find him when I'm sitting around in Dalaran.

Yeah, when I got Putridus, my NPC scan went off while I was in the Horde inn. He's just a big guy

Putridus is commonly found all the way from Dalaran, which makes him extremely hard to tag. :< I'm pretty sure I'd been late to him at least 10 times before finally getting him.

The most random NPCScan alert I ever had was Crazed Indu'le Survivor while I was chilling in Dalaran. I still can't understand how I got him cached from so far away - unlike Putridus who has an enormous hitbox, the Indu'le Survivor isn't particularly big, and he only spawns south of Azjol'Nerub, which isn't anywhere near to Dalaran. XD I flew over, and after a bit of looking found him, completely untouched. @.@

Caching that flying dude in Borean Tundra was freaky.

I was cruising around looking for cobalt when the alert went off (cue unavoidable jump in heart rate that the NPCscan noise now produces), and started frantically searching for the mob. After almost a minute of flying around in circles and seeing nothing interesting on the ground, my breathing was just returning to normal when I angled my camera back up JUST in time to run DIRECTLY into the bastard.

I was so freaked out I simultaneously screamed (scaring the BAJEEBUS out of my cat and my boyfriend), hit hunter's mark (dismounting and sending me tumbling towards the Tundra) and tried to hit tame pet (which, sadly does nothing when you're falling through the air ;p). I got back to my corpse and managed to kill the guy (takes a lot less time to find him when you're actually looking UP ...) but it still made me giggle.

Tame pet, eh? Much as I enjoy the thought of an army of mechagnomes, I don't think they qualify as pets.

Putridus is permanently cached in my npcscan, but I've yet to actually kill him...

TBH npc scan scares the crap out of me each time it pops up no matter what mob it found hate when it does it while im on a taxi tho

My most confusing moment with NPCScan was when I was looking for Nuramoc. I was flying around the area, when it went off. As usual it started showing the animated 3d model of the beast, and for some reason (being excited and all) I thought that refference model was really the chimera in the distance. So I flew in that direction, only to realise soon I was following the wrong thing. By the time I found the actual Nuramoc, he was being killed by a warrior.
I got him a couple of days later, so now it's rather a funny story, then a sad one.

I'm always afraid when camping rares that ill have a heart attack when it pings, usually im running through forums etc with speakers turned right up incase i have a food break...i'm worried for my health

Haha....Putridus gets triggered in Dal pretty easily, yeah. My favorite instance of this was when we were throwing Korii his birthday party bash in the Dalaran Horde Inn and all of us are super drunk, have been polymorphed into bunnies and other animals, and are dancing naked and eating cake and all that jazz, and then NPCSCAN!!!!!!! We all ran out of there so fast and flew out to kill him, while mostly still drunk.

(I was on my slow mount at the time though and got there just an instant too late; I didn't get him on my achievement list. Oh well. I'll just have to kill him again).

The other wild NPCscan moment for me was probably when I found Terror Spinner, because I'm a terrible Arachnophobe and it was 1:30AM and I was falling asleep. I had a total panic attack when it popped up with his spinning 3D model because SPIDER IN MY FACE NOISES OHGAWD, and then I looked down directly below me and THERE HE WAS AGAIN IN ALL HIS GIANT EIGHT LEGGED HAIRY GLORY and it was just Not Fun.

So yes. Plenty of NPCscan shenanigans. XD
