I'm finally able to access the cataclysm related models and textures now that I've re-downloaded WoW Model Viewer since 4.0.1 went live. I was happily tinkering with my huntresses future look for her Goblin race change (from an Orc). I remembered reading on MMO-Champion once that they wouldn't allow race changes directly after the cata release due to "realm first goblin/worgen/etc" achievements. Has this changed at all? I read over the more recent to older news on MMO but didn't see any updated info on the site about it. Has anyone heard or read anything along the lines of an approximated date that race changing will be allowed for the two new races yet?



(My computer has been giving me a lot of grief lately so I haven't been able to keep up with Cata news for the last week or so. )

I don't recall any info on that, and I don't expect them to announce dates before Cataclysm actually launches.
It will probably be several months after Cata, they probably don't know themselves yet.

Theres been rumors floating but no blue posts.

Rumor 1: It'll be 6 months
Rumor 2: It'll be right away because the achievements REQUIRE the phased out Gilneas and Khazan to be done, which if you race change, you cant do them.

It'll most likely be 6 months atleast, as I've not heard anything about devs claiming you need the phased out parts to aquire these achievements. And I'm not entirely sure they're going to allow them anyways; worgen have no starting mounts. Meaning, what happens to your faction mounts when you faction change? If they stay the same you basically have learned mounts you in theory, could not use, unless you were already exalted with your own faction. Unless they've changed faction rep requirements for mounts but I doubt it.

Considering Jetfyre has the title for all 5 factions being exalted, that wouldnt be an issue. You'd probably keep the mounts you have because they did that with my draenei when I changed her from a night elf. She had all 4 lowbie sabers. Draenei only have 3 elekks so I got to keep the Dawnsaber and was able to ride it. I'm still not exalted with Darnassus to this day. I'm sure it'll work the same way. You keep the mounts you already bought.

Well if the achievements didnt require it....why does the achievement say GILNEAN WORGEN and KARZAN GOBLIN? Thats why I think it does and I'm leaning towards option two. Option 3 would be 1 month to have people play lowbies for a little.

MMO-Champion link to one of the achievements. Last I heard the intent was that race change would be available from day 1, but not eligible for the realm first achievement due to not being able to access the phased starter zone quests.

Aha! I knew I heard it from somewhere. I couldn't remember where though. *huggles Anyia!*

Well I don't mind a wait if that doesn't turn out to be the actual plan. I would love to level as a goblin from 80-85 right away though so I hope that's true.
I don't mind if I get any realm firsts. Don't have that kind of free time for leveling to make realm firsts anyway. xD
So here's me hoping we can race change on day one. /crossfingers
